No knock on McDermott here but you do realize that Self has taken 4 of his first 14 teams to the Elite 8 (Tulsa 99-00, Illinois 00-01, KU 03-04 and 06-07)...don't you?

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

It'll take a near perfect game, a good shooting night, and a bit of luck.

Mac outcoached him in the OT loss last year. He always has a lot of talent on his teams, and he is a good at getting the talent to come play for him. He does a good job in getting teams ready to play and getting his teams ready in the offseason. He is a good coach but he does get outmatched at times in games.
Oh I forgot you dont like Mac, dont like his coaching, and are Mr negative towards him so matter what I say will be wrong when it comes to supporting Mac.

If that is considered "choking" then sign me up for some coaches that "choke".
Hey, I certainly don't like the Jayhawks anymore than the next guy on this site but I just think that impugning or trying to minimize the coaching skills of Self is a little ridiculous.

You could say that about every coach that has ever coached a game.
By the way, I don't appreciate you "putting words into my mouth"...I have never said that I don't like Mac or his coaching. Frankly, I support what he is doing...but that doesn't mean that I have to blindly follow him without ever questioning his approach or results.

I would love to see us throw out something completely unexpected... Maybe go ten deep, press the whole game and run with them, might as well if they aren't expecting it...

I think our only hope is for Brandon Rush to get another speeding ticket arrest, but this time suspend him from the team | "We are first and foremost an educational institution that values integritity, honesty and treating others with fairness and respect". -ISU President Gregory Geoffroy; circa May 2003. |

Have Chizik and Cael go down to KU and Tawnya Harding every KU player including Bill Self and that might get close enough to sniff a win.

Hope the refs don't let them maul our ballhandlers like they sometimes do.

I believe it was Stinson when ISU won down there had a quote about not being intimidated by KU home court and that it was like any other basketball court he had played on. It was actually Tinsley who said "It's just another gym." If I remember right it was before the 2001 game when he was asked about being intimidated or whatever.
Our biggest problem will be their guards putting pressure on our guards. I thought we would struggle with that against Mizzou and we were fine but KU's guards are light years ahead of anybody Mizzou has. If we're turning the ball over and not getting it into the hands of Brackins and Wes it's going to be a really long day.
As far as Self goes I think he's a really, really good coach and probably a little underrated because he hasn't broken through to the final four yet but it's only a matter of time. This team has everything and they play much better defense than any team Roy had. They don't always seem like a great defensive team because they manage to play great defense and run on offense at the same time.

do one (or both) of two things:
1. give alvin bowen and jake varner about 5 min. with ku before the game.
2. the first play we run is with the 5 players that play the least and run the "kick ***" play from the replacements. then when they are ejected our others that play will have to come out and have very few to's, shoot about 60%, and get ku to shoot 30% at best. and whoever said play just like we did against mizzou...bingo!
oh and i almost forgot, make kansas give the ball to sasha kaun...what's he gonna do?
