What impressed me most about KU

Was the post moves their bigs possessed. I don't recall seeing a college team that had 3 guys who could drop in that baby hook like they do. I almost found myself wanting Arthur to get the ball in the post just to watch him operate, he is very smooth down there. Brackins needs to develop that move, he has that same kind of length and athleticism that KU's bigs do.

Thats so true. They made everything so smooth. Arthur, Kaun, Jackson, and Aldrich are exceptionally talented F/C. We only have Juri and Brackins as talented F/C.

I think improvements of Darnell Jackson made huge difference this year to KU's roster. He was little bigger over the summer while I played with him in the gym... He totally lost some weight and gained more muscle and so much QUICKER now...

Good Job Cyclones, we played tough... Our year will definitely come in next couple years.

While I'd take Kaun on our team in a second, I've never been overly impressed with his ability to finish in the post.

Arthur and Jackson absolutely owned us. I'm not sure there is anything we will be able to do at Ames to change that.

They could knock down the 8-10 footer at will, also. They are a very good team.

Re: What impressed me most about KU

With KU's great backcourt, ISU wanted to slow down the game and keep KU from scoring many fast break baskets. I thought ISU did a good job controlling the tempo, but KU still scored over 80. Come tournament time a team has to be able to play both up-tempo and half-court basketball to survive the brackets. KU can do that.

I think this may be the best KU team I've seen in a very long time....at least going back to their '96-97' team, maybe further. They are so balanced, unbelievably athletic and can play any type of game.

Up-tempo or half court, they have it covered. As Coach Mac said, they are the most unselfish team. While it sucked to watch them destroy our guys, KU is a fun team to watch, especially the way they play the game!

Hilton rims are sturdier and it takes a man to make a shot. KU plays on soft playskool rims. Thats why we couldnt make a shot lastnight.

With all this talk about their dominant frontcourt, it was the guard play that impressed me as well. Was it Collins who got Rahshon Clark to fall down on a cross-over dribble? The KU bigs were getting the ball deep because their guards penetrated at will...

That's not to say I wasn't impressed with Darrell Arthur; Cory Johnson attempting to keep him off the boards was just embarassing...

Yeah, it was Collins. And he did cross him up, but it also had to do with the fact that Rahshon fell back because he thought the screener was still behind him. That's what him and Rush were laughing about.

Collins is SO good though!

Our post players never make a double move down low and I can't understand it. They all want to catch the ball, turn to their right and hit a turn-a-round. Why not fake that shot, get your man in the air and go under him for the lay up? Hubalek did it once last night and scored easily. They are too predictable down low.

I remember the play that Hubalek made and was thinking the same thing. It worked, but then I did not see them go back to the play. Instead we settled for 3's. KU was likely giving us the 3's, because of our propensity to take them and not convert.
I have not seen a good post-up move by anyone, other than Hubalek, this season. Brackins likes to face the basket. Thompson likes to hang around the elbow, when he is in the game. They are our primary low-post players. Clark and Johnson could post up, but they rarely do.

Our bigs like to dribble in the post which Kansas defended very well by running a guard around the baseline to attempt the steal. Think it led to quite a few turnovers

People down here give Danny Manning a ton of credit for developing their big guys. Arthur definitely has a wide array of moves to choose from and Jackson might be the most improved player in the league.

Cory got jobbed on that play. Arthur hor tied him around the neck and threw him down. It should have been a foul on Arthur. I remember being furious about that call.

They may have to start doing that the next time we play KU.
