Random Observations from 2001
I finished watching the 2001 ISU KU game on my DVR and had a few random thoughts: - I like the old KU floor better than the freakishly enormous kickin' chicken they have now.
- Jon Sunvold and Ron Franklin are one of my favorite announcing teams.
- If most players reached in as much as Tinsley did they would foul out before the first media timeout.
- Having a PG play your SG spot (Horton) is a huge advantage for substitutions and late game situations.
- Ed Hightower will find a way to make sure he gets his TV time no matter the situation.
- Eric Chenowith always has an expression on his face that suggests he is awaiting the results of his girlfriend's pregnancy test.
- Tinsley was really, really good.
- KU fans are a bunch of obnoxious punks.
- Roy really felt the pressure to defend Allen Fieldhouse after getting punked in 2000.
- The mock turtleneck was never really in.
- We had a much deeper bench in 2001 if we needed it than we realized at the time.
- Playing a three-guard offense is really effective if you have the right players (a great ball handler - Tinsley, a great shooter - Sullivan, and a great combo guard - Horton)
- I really hate KU.
- How did this team lose to Baylor and Hampton to close out the season?

You forgot
15. Tinsley is REALLY good.
Actually that should be repeated over and over again. The guy was a freak at the PG and just toyed with most that he played against. Fun to watch again. I was chuckling the whole time watching him school Hinrich.

He was the best ballhandler to ever put on a Cyclone jersey (IMO)...

I watched this last night... It was a nice trip down memory lane... Seeing Sullivan as a Freshman was interesting... He was good then, but he got a lot better too.
Also, I forgot how much I really like Paul Shirley.

I love McDermott but I don't know if we will ever have a team as talented and as fun to watch as we did those two great years. Just thinking about it makes me smile. Then I remember the Michigan State game and it make me want to cry.

I may be a little foggy on the details, but during that season JT left the team and returned to NY due to health issues with his mother. He was not the same player after his return. I don't know what happened while he was away, but something changed.

The DVR may be the greatest invention ever. I am going to keep this game forever.
