I think it is reasonable to comment if a particular player had a bad game, but not just robotically blame the same players and never critique others when warranted.
I have no problem commenting on Brackins. It seems like he regressed back to the Iowa game a little in the K-State game. He needs to slow down and get control of his body before he takes a shot; I think he was rushing it to avoid Walker and Beasley. He will be fine; we weren't going to win that game anyway.
Also...it seems to me he's a much better 3-point shooter from the top of the key than from the baseline.
Re: why is Brackins and missed layups never a problem
Craig misses layups too. DG does too. Jiri has had some close misses also. Yet Copenhagen has reminded us all that a 3 ft miss with no rebound is just as bad as a 20 ft miss with no rebound. I think Craig should really be leaning into the defender to drasw a foul when he does his finger roll. Going to ther line is better than a 3 ft miss with no rebound. And DGH has maisse dmsaany pooint blank layups as he has not mastered the art of spinning the ball properly off the backboard. If we had a super rebounder on the other side to tap the mistake in, it would be alright. Heck we are missing three pointers and layups equally. That is why we are shoot %wise so poorly and are not scoring enough. If Craig or Wesley hits 25, we can get 70 points. We actually look more like an MVC team than a Big 12 team in the scores.
Our defense is fine (B), ball handling aceptable coming up court (C+), rebounding adequate (C), sharp passing poor on offensive sets (F+), and actual team shooting suspect (D). Grade: C.
The really good teams win on the road, average teams do fairly well at home.
