when did the Colorado games get so nasty with ISU?
Didnt they start when Thigpen n Johnny was here and a at Colo game real dirty? I remember [or atleast i think i do] a game where Thigpen went nuts scoring everytime down including a game winning 3 at buzzer.

I do know Thigpen hit a game-winning, running 30-footer at Colorado in 1993. Not sure about any other details from the game. The nasty part of this series definitely goes back to the Harrison twins and Jared Homan coming off the bench to defend Larry. That would have been in 2002 or 2003.

umm, in recent memory I recall things getting a bit chippy between the Harrison brothers and LE, with Jared Homan intervening, but I'm not sure about things prior to that. The game in Boulder in 2000 was one of ISU's 4 regular season losses that year (in OT)... Basketball interest in Boulder is pretty much non-existent, esp. during the Patton era... it's kinda sad actually to see over half their arena empty for every game, sans the KU game when the Jayhawk alum along the front range take over the place...
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. I think a lot of it came from the differences between Eustacy and Patten. They really butted heads and the players seemed to get involved too. I just remember a lot of physical games with only the one or two incidents with the Harrisons.

What announcer said that Homan took after Harrison like someone stole his sheep?

That's not the CU recap but a direct quote: "I'm just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard," Eustachy joked after that game. "I thought he came off the bench like someone was stealing his cow or something."

We need a player like Jared Homan again. Just a beast down low that brings ton of energy to the team and crowd.

All I know is that I hope our new team hits a level of physicality like those teams had.

Re: when did the Colo games get so nasty with ISU?
I think Colorado is nasty with everybody. I've been to several Iowa State/Colorado games in Boulder (in both basketball and football) and I always take grief from the Colorado student section. I've also been to Colorado basketball and football games that didn't involve ISU, and the students were just as nasty to the opposing fans in those games as they were to me when I was decked out in my Cyclones gear. Colorado's alumni seem pretty well-behaved for the most part, but their student section is about the most unruly, disrespectful bunch I have ever seen at a college sporting event.
BvK, you've got to quit making so much sense because I "must spread some rep around" before giving more to you. (Original quote by wonkadog.) -

That assessment is pretty spot-on. I watched the NU-CU football game in 2005 when Neb won 30-3, giving us a chance to beat KU and win the Big XII North and knocking Colorado out of the race. The student section at CU started throwing bottles and other debris on the field and stadium officials cleared out (as in, kicked out) the student section.
My distaste for Colorado stems from 2 individuals in recent memory: Gary Barnett and Osborn -- can't remember his first name, but he a fro and wore black socks up to his knees, and he came off the bench to hit the 3-pointer that pushed us to OT with them in Hilton (I think it was in 2005). I hated that guy. F'in knee socks.

Re: when did the Colo games get so nasty with ISU?
The last year under coach Morgan there was that controversy about ISU fans booing the team after a pathetic loss, which in fact wasn't true, we booed at Patton's thugs taunting the crowd, taking their game jersey's off acting like they scored a soccer goal. It was one of the most pathetic displays of sportsmanship I had ever seen, but you had to suspect that was coming from a Ricardo Patton coached ball club.
I think he might be the worst coach to ever coach D-I ball. God knows he had the athletes, CU always had great size and talent, Patton just couldn't coach. I've never seen a team just give up so many times in my life.
Can you tell I can't stand CU?
