They have also had the toughest start in Big 12 play so far. We could very easily be 0-4 right now if we started with 2 games against KU, Baylor, and @ CU

ISU 3-3
L at Baylor
W Missouri
W Okie St
L at Kansas
L at Kansas St
W Colorado
Nebraska 0-4
L Kansas
L at Colorado
L Baylor
L at Kansas
at Missouri tonight
Drop the Okie St game and trade Kansas St for Kansas and the schedule is practically identical. I don't know how you say they've played a significantly more difficult schedule...
How did Nebraska draw KU twice in the first 4 games? Must be some bad karma over there.
On the other hand, that might not be so bad. Get the two most difficult games out of the way early in the conference season, still 12 games left to make a push against the rest of the league.
We should beat Nebraska even if Wes doesn't play, because Coach Mac will have a good gameplan. The reason why we only scored 15 in the first half last night was because not having Wes in was unplanned, so we were playing with a gameplan that utilized Wes. G-Mac made the adjustment at halftime of how we will play without Wes, which is why we were able to score 42 in the second half.
Would we have scored more points in the first half with Wes? Certainly. However - we were looking pathetic offensively from the start last night - it's not like we were tearing it up with him in there.
I felt the team was still hung-over from those two ugly road losses. Greg mentioned that in the post-game as well. That was my biggest fear from those 2 games - not how bad we would lose and all that - but what our confidence would be after facing KU and KSU on the road.
In the first half - it was clear no one wanted to step up and make a mistake. Greg must have done a great job at the half not only making adjustments, but getting the guys woke back up and ready to play.
I think if we can play a good first 10 minutes Saturday - we win. If not - it'll be really tough to avoid the "here we go again" road game mentality.
Not just the first 10 minutes, but also the first 10 minutes of the second half as well. We tend to struggle coming out of the half (CU game being a notable exception), and if it's close or we're up at intermission it's important we not let NE get any kind of momentum going. Otherwise I think we're sunk. Case in point: Baylor (and I was there. *tear*).
For those who want more to wrestle with on this one - Doc Sadler has drilled into his team that the 1st 5 minutes of each half are of prime importance in determining the outcome of games. It hasn't always worked for them, but they do emphasize it.
Based upon what I saw in Lincoln last year we should expect to win even without Wes. Thats not to say it is a lock or that it will be easy but I think even with the current decidedly different players we match up well. I think that a fired up Jiri and Alex can bang him and keep him reasonably in check. He is going to get points but last year we had him missing bunnies for the first 2/3 of the game. Given their lack or lights out scoring we match up well elsewhere as well... I really like Brackins chances in this game.
It will be a tough game because it is on the road. No shame in losing on the road in the Big 12, but this does represent a good shot for getting a road victory and in recent history we have played quite well in Lincoln.
I can't see MU beating NU tonight. Hannah really runs the MU team and with him alone being out then I see them struggling. I believe I heard MU had suspended 6 players for tonights game so it makes even more difficult for them to win. IMHO NU gets their first Big 12 win tonight.
NU vs. MU will be a game I will be checking up on... If Missouri is in this game AT ALL, I would say our chances at NU look much better. If NU dominates this game though (as you would think they should), it will be hard to take anything away from it.
I think we got them at Nebraska they won but they won 66-62 not impressive but a win they have some momentum as do we it will be a hard fought game but its possible.
