Announcement On ISU-A&M TV Coverage For Feb. 5

AMES, Iowa – Because Tuesday’s Iowa State-Texas A&M basketball game directly conflicts with ABC network Super Tuesday primary election night coverage, WOI-TV channel 5 in Central Iowa will split its schedule to accommodate viewers who want to watch either the game or election coverage.

The game will only be shown on the analog WOI signal. ABC’s Super Tuesday coverage will air on WOI’s digital/HD signal. All Central Iowa Mediacom cable subscribers will be able to watch the game on WOI channel 5. Other cable company subscribers who receive WOI’s analog signal will also be able to see the ISU-Texas A&M game on WOI.

Dish Network and DirecTV subscribers will not be able to watch the game because WOI provides those networks with its digital/HD signal. Satellite dish subscribers would have to shut down their satellite or use a separate television with a “rabbit ears” antenna to watch the game on channel 5.

KFXA-Fox in Cedar Rapids/Waterloo will also carry the game and will be broadcasted on both its analog and digital/HD channels.

Doesn't impact me, as we'll be there - but damn...sports is far more important than all things political and should always take priority on the digital HD channels!

What are you talking about. It is very importatnt to be updated every minute on who is winning what county with 4% of the votes in.

What better way is there to avoid flipping channels that night and screaming...

"The President' is on! He's on every channel!"

You wouldn't scream that per say, but instead...

"The President-elects are on. They're on every channel!"

But it's not as funny that way.

I have DISH with DM locals, but also an HD antenna for locals. I wonder if I might be able to pick up the game with that arrangement? (I have 2 diff. versions of WOI on my receiver)

Politics will only be on 37 other channels that night. Why can't they show the game and run the % #'s on the bottom line like they do for weather stuff. Nobody needs to hear the talking heads bicker about candidates anyway.

same here.. i planned on going to the game but i want to record it too..
