I'm not holding my breath on anybody but Garrett. Sucks to say, but I just don't see it otherwise.

Why does everyone think Boozer will be better? Garrett will be better, he will be pushed more, he will learn to take care of the ball better, and take better shots.

I think Boozer will be better because he is young and has a lot of room for improvement, I still don't see him being in the rotation.

Re: Why we will be better next year

I think we will be better next year because we will be more talented at the guard position, and just as talented in the front court. Plus, the team will have had another year to adjust to the system, and get used to G-Mac's coaching.
Wesley will hopefully be completely healthy, and will have had more practice time. Craig will really develop, and three out of the four incoming freshman can be immediate contributors. (excluding Hamilton)

I agree that Boozer might in in over his head at a BCS level school. He was not heavily recruited even by mid-major level schools. He was a fallback recruit after P'Allen Stinnet ended up a Creighton.

Up to now, he hasn't shown that any part of his game is Big XII ready. There is still hope that he can develop, but I wouldn't even put any CyBookie credits on it at this point.

Has the team improved this year as the season has progressed? And if we have, tell me who and where?

Boozer will not play next year as we will be even deeper at the guard spot . Be a good year to redshirt him.

I think that this is a telling statement. At the end of the day we are going to go as far as Brackins and Wesley Johnson take us.

Yeah we need AT to step up at the 5, hopefully Lucca give us something at the two and Garret/Peterson/Buckley are solid at the point, but we could have two NBA players and very good college players over the next two years.

We'll Be Better, But Will it Be Good Enough?

IMO we'll have a better team next year. We lose Clark & Hubalek. Hopefully that will be offset by a healthy Wesley, an eligible Lucca and improvement by Garrett & Brackins.

But do I see guys like Boozer, C. Johnson, Thompson, Peterson or Haluska being more than role players? No.

Do I see Mann, Hamilton, Buckley or Eikmeier being more than role players either? No.

What this year's team lacks & I don't see anything changing with next season is that stud offensive player on the perimeter. A kid who can create his own shot off the dribble or drain the jumper. I also don't see a dominate low post kid who can dominate the paint on offense or on the boards.

Craig put alot of muscle on from Cap League to November. I was unimpressed with his size last summer, but was shocked to see how much he filled out from July. He's going to be a terror next year and the year after. Big Vic and Fizer were outstanding their sophomore years after what I considered "okay" freshman years!

There will be an upgrade in talent next year with players coming in. The players that are on the team will also get better and now what Mac expects out of them. There are players on this team that can improve and will work hard to do it. Post players at ISU have usually take 2 or 3 years to get so they can play at a high level in this league. Once they get there they some of the best in the conference.

Wow...he had less than 1 NBA player per year over that time frame and still won 900 games...very impressive in my opinion. I think my initial comment was in response to someone who said they had heard ex-NU star Dave Hoppen opine that to have success at DI BB you need 2-3 NBA type players every year on your team. Thanks for the info!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Nothing wrong with this team that adding DJ White and Eric Gordon wouldn't cure.

Sed Johnson can help, as it looks like he can create his own shot, and Diante can get an open look whenever he wants too, he just needs to become a better shooter.
