I35 update
I just drove from Ames to Ankeny and I35 has no snow on it. Just completely wet as of now. Just an FYI to those wondering.

Re: I35 update
I just put it in 4x4 and set the cruise at 82 mph, while I talk on my cell phone and eat my whopper. No worries here!

Just because you have a 4x4 SUV does not mean you can still drive 80mph on ice or snow. Ever notice that over half the cars in the ditch and flipped upside down or on the side anymore are these big SUVs? I actually think you are at a disadvantage almost having a big vehicle like that in bad weather as it's harder to control when you lose traction. It helps in slower speeds and deeper snow but when you are out on the interstate I don't think you really gain much if any of an advantage over a front wheel drive car.

Re: I35 update
Don't you people know that if your vehicle has 4 drive wheels, it can stop faster too!
Redrocker, pass me a cheeseburger!

Re: I35 update
Obviously driving with his knees. I am a Whopper addict and it takes 2 hands to eat one.

Re: I35 update
Oh, and thanks for the update. I wasn't planning to let a little weather stop me from hitting the game. I'm sure it will be a little worse after the game, as that's when the worst of it is supposed to hit. Hopefully with as (relatively) warm as it's been lately, major highways will take awhile to ice over.

Re: I35 update
I just saw Redrocker slide through a red light with four wheels locked up in west Ames but luckily the cars with the green light were being cautious and nobody got hurt!! -

Re: I35 update
I just got back from Des Moines, driving to Ames was fine. no problems. It might get a little worse but there is a break right now.

Re: I35 update
Roads from Urbandale to Ankeny are fine, just wet. Normal speedlimit trip.

Re: I35 update
Just to note, the sideroads in WDM are pretty bad. Main roads are slushy/wet.

Re: I35 update
Highway 69 on the north side of Ankeny is partially covered. Wasn't bad, but I didn't feel safe going over 45-50 there.
