Who besides Appleton?
I read on someone's post earlier today that on his call-in show, McDermott indicated he was recruiting two JUCO guards for next year. I assume Appleton is one, but who do you guess is the other?
Also, anyone know where Pomlee (Davenport big man) is headed next year? Are looking we looking at him or a JUCO big as well?

Re: Who besides Appleton?
I really hope we look at another center prospect. I don't know what we would have done without Jiri's inside scoring punch yesterday.

Yes, my optimistic side hopes that Brackins sees that he is going to have to be the guy in the middle next year. Hopefully this makes him work like a madman on his game, specifically his defense and rebounding.
I think we need someone to move bodies around and muscle some people, too, regardless of their offensive skills. We aren't very tough in the middle, even with Jiri. Problem is this type of guy is getting harder and harder to find.

That's a good point. Not many people really want to spend time in the middle anymore. Not so many highlights, and it's not necessarily the central part of the game anymore.

Re: Who besides Appleton?
I heard the other guard is a potential walk-on candidate from DMACC.
OK...I'm kidding...let's hope there is a gem out there besides Appleton in case we can't close the deal with him.
I also agree we need another big and Pomlee is not the answer for those that think he is.

Re: Who besides Appleton?
I think Pomlee would be a good option, but I also think maybe the basketball staff has maybe discovered a few diamonds in the rough like Wesley, and maybe they don't want to mention they are recruiting them.
On a side not, Chris Babb now has Iowa State and Bradley as his two top options. He is a guard that can score like crazy, and he can really shoot too.

Heard the other guy is a transfer from Drake who wants playing time. (Just kidding)
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: Who besides Appleton?
isnt l.a. Pomlee like a 6"7 power forward, doesn't he really like Iowa state
-
Re: Who besides Appleton?
Yeah he is. He has Iowa state and Wisky as his two favorites, but I don't think either programs have offered him, whether that be because he doesn't have the grades or they are waiting on another prospect.

It will be once the 3 point line goes back a foot.

Re: Who besides Appleton?
I think the NCAA is trying to make the game a little bit more Big-centric, instead of having teams like duke shoot threes all game.

Re: Who besides Appleton?
Couple guys I wouldn't mind seeing come to Ames.
Lloyd Phillips from Western Iowa Community College
Scoring- 18.083 Pts/game
3 pt %- .436
free throw %- .779
assists/game- 3.75
steals/game- 1.958
a/to- 1.667
The kids only 5-10 but his stats scream hustle and speed. Wouldn't mind seeing Gmac get recruiting crossroads set up at Western. They've got one guard (Derwin Kitchen) who was runner-up Mr. Basketball of Florida and a 4* recruit who is verballed to Florida State, and another (Chris Poellnitz) who was a 3* out of the Patterson school. Also see a couple Hoover grads from their state championship team a couple years back. The team is 21-3 and has a guard court I wouldn't have minded having this year.

He has grade issues from those I've talked to and teams are scared since he sat out last season with a blood clotting issue.
He shows signs of explosiveness, but mainly got his points after rebounding his own missed shots. He did impress me at the free throw line where I don't think he missed.
He lost his cool after picking up his third foul in about a three minute span and showed signs of imaturity after missing a layup he'd jog back and limp a little whereas if he dunked it he sprinted back without a limp.
I heard all the hype, but I think he is more of a project than I thought he would be. ISU can find someone better in my opinion.
