It has to clear the net according to Fran on TV. If that is the case, it clearly did not and thus was not 2 points as it was correctly ruled.

It was the right call because it didn't clear the bottom of the net. However, didn't the refs leave it on the scoreboard?

My biggest gripe was inconsistency in the hand foul department. I know that Augustin was always trying to put his hands on Petey and Garrett when they had the ball, sometimes reaching and fouling in the process, then we get called for some small hand touches at the other end.

I think the biggest question was how they called contact away from the ball. There was a lot of hand checking and contact coming off screens and establishing position. Not sure if they were right or wrong, but that seemed to be the most controversial part of their officiating.

Re: Tell me I'm not the only one.........

Were the people claiming to have an unbiased opinion and saying the refs called a balanced game even at the game? I was at the game and the officiating was extremely bad. I'm not going to say that Iowa State would have won if the officiating had been better but I will say that it takes away from how well the players of both teams played. It's much easier to see bad officiating in person than on television because you can see more off the ball action.

if you were there you cant possibly think the ref's did a good job... if the refs had half a brain then we would have won by 10+ in regulation... it was horrible, did you hear the crowd?

Re: Tell me I'm not the only one.........

Also, the reason Iowa State looked so bad on the offensive in during the last part of the second half and overtime was because Texas was grabbing and pushing every player that was coming off a screen so they couldn't get open. It was a good job by Texas to realize that the officials were not calling this so they kept doing it and it really took us out of our game. It was unfortunate that the officials kept calling fouls on Iowa State every time they attempted to do the same thing. It was inconsistencies such as these that really made the officiating in this game suck in my mind.

There were many more than 2-3 questionable calls. I understand there will be a few bad calls per game but yesterday's game there was absolutely no consistency to the refs calls. Jiri gets called for 3 seconds and there were several times Texas should have been called for the same thing.

Multiple times they let Texas players be much more physical when rebounding.

If the refs really weren't that bad, why did McDermott really lay into them at the end of the game? I've never seen him do anything like that before.

I was not there, but had the benefit of replay via TV along with my DVR. IMO you are expressing your frustration of the team not being able to pull it out by blaming the refs.

Honestly...I would say GMac was doing a bit of the same. He is still searching for a trademark win to start getting this thing going in the right direction and another one just slipped through his fingers. At some point he has to start feeling that pressure and I think he is starting to hear some naysayers (albeit still too soon IMO).

I used to complain about the refs, but gave up on it awhile back. In all honesty, they make the occasional mistake as we are all human, but I thought the "blown calls" were balanced on both sides.

Re: Tell me I'm not the only one.........

I'm not saying Iowa State would have won had the officiating been better; I'm saying that the bad officiating left a bad test in my mouth from what was otherwise a very good game.

What I'm also saying is that no combination of TV coverage and DVR can allow you to see as much as someone in attendance. The off ball officiating is really my beef. It was horrendously unbalanced. Anyway, it was a great game and I'm very impressed with the play of Abrams. That kid can light it up.

Yeah they were bad! But I complain about the refs after every game that doesn't end with a 'W'...I feel the cyclones get always get the short end of the stick! Man I wanted to win so bad last night!!!!! It makes me mad but it was a little easier to watch because we kinda controlled the paint! Much better then KU and KSU....

Being at the game makes you more biased not less. And in general, the crowd doesn't make the best judge of the quality of the officiating... no matter how loud the complain or how "basketball smart" Fran praises them to be.

Re: Tell me I'm not the only one.........

When a game ends in a tie, like 62 -62. And the refs can't see a simple goal tending on DG 's layup, my math has that ending in a 63-62 win. Very simple and a win for the Cyclones. The refs do matter in close games.
