Re: Bergan (Eikmeier) beats OCA 92-39

He ran track his sophmore year, but decided to workout for basketball junior year.

Hope everyone doesn't forget Wes plays in a lot of AAU tournaments in the summer against some of the best competition in the country, and does very well. The small town thing means nothing to me. Loren Meyer and Jared Homan weren't bad players and you'd better not blink driving through their hometowns because you may miss them. Anyone else think of some small town players at ISU.

Gary Thompson seemed to do alright for himself.

I read that he used to run track (the 800M I think), and he was pretty good, but he gave that up to focus on basketball (weight training, drills, stuff that the staff said he should focus on) to prepare for playing at ISU.

Thought Nick Collison was from Iowa Falls, a town smaller than fremont.

Klay Edwards and dare I say it, Jess Settles. Klay was from little Mt. Union, population 400, and Jess was from Winfield, pop. about 1000.

I just thought I'd thank you as well NebrClone...your updates on Wes are great! On a related note (although this is complete heresy and it's been a while since I heard it so the numbers might be a little off, so take it with a grain of salt ), I heard from someone close to the basketball team that Wes, while on campus, scored very well in a shooting drill that McD made up. I don't know the specifics of the game, but apparently Lucca had the highest score on the current team with something around 150 (much higher than the average) and then Wes stepped up and scored around 190. I can't wait until we get these stellar shooters in uniform!

Lucca had 197 and Wes ran it up to 214 made 3's. He had 2 streches of 40 3's made in a row.

It would be a heck of a game of H-O-R-S-E between those two.
