Here is a good rundown of some banner times in ISU basketball on the DM Reg website: Key Moments
That 1957 game against Wilt and Kansas must have really been amazing.

I have the Sioux City Journal from that game. I treasure it.

With Floyd we were at best a #6 seed, a team that shockingly won the final Big 8 tourney, and made it as far as the Sweet 16. Fast forward to 2000. With Eustachy we won two Big XII regular season championships, a Big XII title, two #2 seeds (either of which could have been a #1), an Elite 8 appearance (that should have resulted in more), and one season finishing either #3 or #5 in the nation, depending which poll you look at. Floyd leaving has absolutely nothing to do with the demise of ISU Basketball - I'd blame that more on Eustachy's drinking and partying with coeds of rival schools and Morgan's blackmailing of the school to hire him and his inability to actually coach were more of what caused the demise of the program than Floyd leaving.
Please take your asinine comments about ISU basketball elsewhere...

Floyd would have kept the talent level very high plus he is a darn good coach. LE did not have an ability to recruit well year after year IMO.

That may have had more to do with what he became as a person with his extracaricular activities. I think if he would have had his head on straight things would have been good for LE

Seems like recruiting is the part that a lot of these guys struggle with when they make the transition from mid-major to major conference basketball. They've shown that they can recruit a certain level of talent, or type of player, often have one big run, and turn that into millions of dollars.
All the while, no one knows if they can sustain their success longer than that one hot streak.
Oh, well. That's my every-April pet peeve.

That MAY be the case, but I'm not convinced it is. Floyd was the real deal and I think we would have been a constant Top 25 team with him at the helm. I don't think that is the case with LE.

Hopefully we can get to that point with Greg and the past can wash away. Would be nice not to have these conversations anymore or at least as frequently.

-keep. Again, you call this a slide?
Tim didn't leave many bodies for LE. LE had to recruit to make Fizer look that good. And WM took his recruits as far as he could.
Again, there hasn't been this much success in ISU BB in its history... let along in ANY ten year window.
the backhanded comments about players, programs and history are tired, IMO. Relish the fun we had from 1995-2004 withOUT the backhanded slap.
- keep.
