So I've seen Iowa play twice recently.

I guess I don't see the reason for all of the Lick-love including from some over here. He's a far better person and coach than Alford but I've seen nothing to be "afraid" of.

I don't get it. Iowa has no talent and looked no better or worse than any other team with no talent.

He can coach, but his recruiting classes so far have been subpar.

    Alford isn't really a person

There is no way that team should have beat OSU or MSU. He must have done something right.

Iowa can play defense, just can't score. When a team scores more then 60, they're 1-10.......Lickliter will be good I think

When Iowa beat Mich. State and Ohio State I gave a lot of props to Lick. Even though Mich. State played their worst game in 25 years that night in Iowa City. I am ready to explain away the Ohio State turnaround as OSU had an unbelievable night in Columbus when the won by 30, and reverted to the team you expect from Frosh/soph players on the road when the met in IC. And after the last 2 Hawk disasters, things have returned to normal. I still think Lick is a good coach, and a good person, but he has a ways to go as a recruiter before Iowa starts to dominate the big 10.

People are getting too worked up over a couple wins over "top 15" teams. Those upper Big 10 teams are vastly overrated this year and it's hard not to win when a team struggles to reach 40 points. I don't care how good of defense you play, it takes a horrid shooting night from the other team to keep them around 40.

I agree the Big 11 is not looking very impressive this year, but even so, I sure wish we could figure out a way to beat a ranked team at home this year. Up 13 on Texas in Hilton and losing was a real heartbreaker.

Since ISU is 0-9 under McD against top 25 teams, I don't think we have a leg to stand on for this argument.

I must have missed the part where we were comparing our team to Iowa's. I'm well aware of our struggles against ranked teams. Show me one that comes into Hilton and scores 40 and I'll show you a win for us over a ranked team.

MSU lost to PSU on the road as well and played like crap at Purdue. MSU on the road can play bad...very bad.

OSU is young and vulnerable in ANY road game.

I've seen plenty of comparisons. We are a shell of the team that we will be very shortly.

Ok, I didn't know I needed to specify so much. Show me the part where we were comparing our lack of wins over ranked teams to Iowa's wins over ranked teams IN THIS THREAD. Sorry.

Is it possible that his team's "great defense" was simply something new to the big ten? D1 head coaches get to where they are by knowing how to scout opponents and attack their weaknesses. What I saw last night was a Mich team that made adjustments at half-time in how to attack Iowa's defense. The adjustments worked and Iowa couldn't respond.

Considering the personnel turnover, we're not doing too bad. I was hoping for better, but we're playing like a middle-of-the-road team and not a bottom dweller.
