One thing I noticed in the 2nd half is we went into 5th gear. We seemed to be stuck in 3rd the first half. I think all these new guys have to get the picture that this is the Big XII, you have to play hard and smart all 40 minutes.
I really hope the 3rd year McD charm happens to us next season, God knows we deserve it!!!

Re: I have SERIOUS doubts about McDermott
Doc Sadler ran out of timeouts at the 7 minute mark. Aleks "He is God" Marek also helped out by missing some two foot cripple shots. He is definitely ready for the pros in Greece. Nebraska only had Cookie Miller who could hit a three. They missed in close; they missed from outside. They went 8 or 9 minutes in the second half without scoring, just like we did in the first half. A matchup of Titans.

Just as a point of reference...virtually no one was at Hilton when Johnny arrived in Ames so virtually no one had to "put up with that crap", as you term it...ISU BB was totally irrelevant...irrelevant at ISU, in Ames, in Iowa, in the Big 8, and certainly nationally. My point is that no one cared because we had been so pathetic for so long. McDermott, even with all of the defections, took over a much, much, much more vibrant program than Johnny Orr did.
Hey, how's that for all of you that totally discredit Morgan because he supposedly took over a program in much better shape than McDermott did?

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

Thats just poor coaching. A good coach finds a way to make the team rally without wasting 5 time outs that early.

Fortunately, I did not get to see this game. 11 points in the first half? Wow, that must have been some scintilating basketball to watch!

Re: I have SERIOUS doubts about McDermott
Well...it wouldn't be me if I didn't get in at the end of these threads, but if anyone is still paying attention....I couldn't tell what adjustments we made in the second half because I was a little caught up in the emotion of it all. The one thing I noticed was that Jiri did a nice job of getting his seal and identifying the open guy if it was there on the double team.

Great post by the way. Did you seem to forget about Tinsley & Horton ? I am not saying Thigpen and Bayless were not up there, but to put Stinson and Blaylock ahead of Tinsley & Horton is unreal. :

Re: I have SERIOUS doubts about McDermott
"Give It Some Time Boys"....This is definitely a "work in progress" program right now, so just give Greg Mac some time to get "his players on the floor"....Then If Greg Mac can't get us to the ncaa tournament, then and only then is it time to start thinking of someone else>
I'm willing to give Mac ten years to get it down..Get with the program boys and girls and lets get the b-ball program back to the Eustacy Years in terms of quality!!

Re: I have SERIOUS doubts about McDermott
I know a guy who played with Mac and I know a guy who played for Mac. We are fine unless players keep leaving or become NCAA casualties every year.
I couldn't be less worried.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? There is no way we need to wait 10 years to get to the NCAA tourney. Look at Baylor, they had a player get murdered by another player and the coach tried to cover it up, then they had to not play a pre-big 12 season and now they are NCAA bound and how long did that turn around take? And that was a MUCH worse situation and this....at least we didn't have a murder.... -

Re: I have SERIOUS doubts about McDermott
Call me crazy, but I'm with you CyBobby. I'd give him ten years as well. Imagine what this program could be with 10 years of continuity at head coach.

I went to some of those games and you could sit most anywhere in the lower bowl that you wanted...NO ONE was sitting there and even the student section, if you could call it that.. was very very sparsely attended!!
