I dont care if we had ended up losing by 50.. let go of your illusions and support the man and the team through what was supposed to be an ever tougher time than whats it been.. a good win today.. GO CYCLONES!!!! Common sense...hmmmm a rare approach! Not sure if anyone listen to the post game show, however, sounded like RC and a few others were sick as well today .... half time in the locker room sounded like a hospital with all of the hacking and coughing going on. Also, coach said that the team has not been quite the same since the loss to Texas....really took the wind out of their sails. He said that he wasn't sure what it was, but they were young and needed to work through it and he said they were per todays win. Speaking of working through it, he said that Craig B is part of our future and that CB is needing to work through his Freshman year tribulations. How coach tells it like it is one of the things I respect and really like about him.
So in the end, I think we should continue to support the coaches and team rather than the alternative......

I give Mac, the coaching staff, and the team, a world of credit for the way they played in the second half. They could have easily "folded" after the first half, but they didn't. Was I happy with the first half of play? About as happy as I'd be being diagnosed with the first case of a rare nasal disease, having it published in a medical journal for a Pulitzer by the attending physician, and then having photos leaked to the tabloids by the paparazzi. Oh, and having it named after me. In other words, I was not a "happy camper" at half time.
However, in my humble opinion, it takes a heck of a coach to rally his team to a win after a first half like that. | "Do I look like a guy with a plan." Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight |

What drives me nuts is the fans that can only sit through one half of basketball. The fans that don't realize how great of a game this was. The fans that don't realize that getting rid of McDermott would set our program back probably at least another 5 years. The fans that don't realize that McDermott took one of the best teams in the country to overtime, or he turned the worst half in Cyclone history to one of the great wins of the season, or that he has once again out performed what the critics expected out of us this season.

The only guard combo I would say we've had compared to Thigpen and Bayless was Stinson and Blaylock. You must have missed the pairing of Hornacek and anyone.
Thigpen had the advantage of spending four years in the system. We'll never know how good Taylor might have been in his senior year, with a little more talent around him.

Not knocking Thigpen in any way because he was twice the guard Taylor was. Tinsley, Nurse, and Horton were the best guard court in ISU history.

Dude starting this thread would have made a lot more sense...if it made sense. This is like raising the Titanic. Our b-ball program was in BAD shape and is going to take more than a few minutes(your attention span) to get it righted. Next time you get an urge to post like this, let your fingers go crazy but instead of hitting submit just close IE and have a few minutes to relax.

Who was the other guy that always had something to say about Gmac, and Dmac (either positive or usually negative to Gmac..)? Darts? Is that right?

I have serious doubts about Doc Sadler. He has a potential All American in Marek, he used up all his timeouts by 8 minute mark, he did not yell at the refs enough, he could not get his team a turnover the second half, he had his players foul the wrong people. What were you thinking, Doc? You made no halftime adjustments for the Tornados. He allowed SH to shoot at will. His team was sloppy and inept. But I sure will thank you for the Win Outright credits.

I'm not going to waste 20 minutes of my life reading all the anti McDermott comments in this thread, but anyone who thinks they can honestly say he is in over his head is jumping the gun big time.
And anyone who says he can't coach might want to call Rick Barnes, because he would disagree with you.
We need some freaking guards people-you can't compete in the Big XII with Petersen and Haluska, although they are out there giving it everything they have.
Let's see what happens next year with another recruiting class and hopefully Tyrone Appleton

No point on bagging on a coach who expected to have Mike T, Lucca, Brister all on this team.
Bad luck yes. His fault.. maybe partially. But you can NOT pass judgement on coach Mac until he gets the players he wants.

That guy was unbelievable.

Wow - the first 3-4 posts of this thread now OFFICIALLY become the dumbest posts in the history of CF.
Congratulations.
And I'm sure that said posters won't rear their heads again (hopefully) until the next loss.
