If there was a Gopherfanatic message board, I bet his username would have been "Northernhawk" and his sig line would've been something like "Minnesota Student, Iowa Fan, best of both worlds..."

Patrick who?

Wow! Two worlds I'd love to avoid! But, you're right.

I wonder if "anyone else" will read that comment

Wow, looks like a smaller crowd than I expected.

Did Sully play or did his surgery keep him out of something like this too?

Re: Century Celebration Thread

another good story:
throughout the second half of the game freddie gordon and gary thompson would share shoes with each other. im not sure if this happened in the first half but i didnt notice it then. so, when freddie gordon came out, he would take his shoes off and give them to gary thompson who went in the game a little bit later. it was pretty funny watching these old dudes switch shoes every 5 -10 minutes or so. not to mention they werent even basketball shoes. it was a good time though

As did Grayer, who calmly busted threes like it was 1988.

Re: Century Celebration Thread

I'd hate to sound all sentimental about it (wait, no I wouldn't), but yesterday made me just incredibly proud to be a Cyclone.

Hearing coach on the radio talk about all the guys that came back, and how he got to talk to Johnny Orr about Michigan's, where Johnny didn't even attend. We really have something special here

Freddie Gordan 1939-1941 per the program.

Even if he was 18 in 1941 that makes him 85 ... probably pushing 90.

Looks like there wasn't many people at all! I would have loved to seen it.

Most of the parquet was full, and maybe 20% of the balcony.

it wasn't that bad, there were a lot of people. That one shot of the far end of cyclone alley doesn't do it justice, a lot of people moved around to better angles.
