I can only find that UNI won the tourney in '04-'05. I can't find regular season results.

I don't believe they ever won the Regular Season, just the MVC Tourny...

Without looking it up, I believe he went 12-6 in Valley play in 2003-2004 earning a 2 seed in the tournement. I also think the 12 wins is the most MVC wins for UNI.

I believe that is what makes Mac such a remarkble coach, in 6 years at UNI, the last 3 he went to 3 straight NCAA tourneys (2 at large berths).....with about 1/10 of the budget and resources that a Major Conference school like ISU can now provide......
Before that he took bottom feeder D2 Wayne State, Nebraska, to 3 straight national tournament apperances, his reccord at Wayne his last year was so good, they hosted a NCAA regional tournament in Wayne (like a H.S. gym) they gave them the tournament as a independent D2 team, no conference, no conference tourney.......because they (NCAA) had no choice he had beaten all the conference champs in the region head to head.......
Patience my Cyclone faithful, it will happen in Ames, given a little time........

Actually, I have a question for you Dags. I am too lazy to look this up, but how many D2 tournament games did Greg win?

McDermott received his first head coaching job at Wayne State (Neb.) from 1995-2000. He led the Wildcats to four-straight 20-win seasons, one Northern Sun Conference title and a pair of NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen berth in 2000. He won 116 games in his six years with the Wildcats while earning conference coach of the year honors in 2000.

I must correct myself 2 years....
98 year posted a 20-7 record and did not get invite, because they were independent....
next year made it to regional lost to Neb Kearny in OT in the regional finals they hosted
last year lost to Metro State of Denver at Denver eventual National Champs in the regional finals....

My point is simple at these schools Wayne and UNI he has had little support, I'm am not sure Wayne even had 10 scholarships when he got there....The budgets, staff, facilites were next to nothing....
Given now, with a Major Conference budget, resources (plane, ect...how long does Jake at UNI have to drive to see certain recruits), Staff, facilities.... ISU gives him time he will not disappoint, He will get it done and do it the right way, a way that will make all associated with ISU proud.....
The real world is not like a game of "Playstation", you can not just hit re-set and start over all the time.....
Winning takes commitment.....

Coach, I am not sure that Jake is in a good spot right now, that AD hire will be pretty crucial to his fortunes.
As far as Greg, I agree, he will be given every opportunity to fail or succeed on his own terms. The university is committed to him, as they should be. He will get ample time to get it going.

I know McD hasn't won a game in NCAA Tournament, but look who he lost too with UNI.
Georgia Tech by 3, who I believe went to the Championship game?
Wisconsin by 5, who went to the Final Four or Elite Eight?
Someone help me with the last team and how they did.

We know it was not Hampton Georgetown 54, (10) Northern Iowa 49
The Panthers opened the second half in a 2-of-18 shooting slump against the Big East's stingiest defense and never picked it up enough to retake the lead against the Hoyas, against whom they had led throughout the first half.
GEORGIA TECH LOST TO CONNECTICUT IN THE FINALS BY 9.

Someone help me with the last team and how they did. They lost to Ga Tech 65-60.
Then they lost as a 10 seed to Georgetown his last year, John Little kept them in that game with his shooting, but they couldn't handle them in the paint. That team started 19-3, ended up 23-10. Crawford broke his foot against Creighton, but they played themselves out of a good seed by losing at home to Indiana St, and Missouri St, then Bradley came in and beat them by 22.
Thank you for the score update, and I forgot that they were ahead 16-0 at Southern that year, and lost. Then had them beat in St Louis, and let them come back and get them into OT where they lost as well. That was how they went from being the first team in the country to win 19 games, to 5th in Valley, and a 10 seed.
