It was a longshot anyway

But there are some strong rumors about Appleton committing to Kansas last weekend. It was his second visit in 2 weeks to Lawrence.

I wonder if they bring anybody else in. At this point I honestly kind of hope we just stick to the guys coming and go with the youth movement again. Unfortunately.

McD claims there is another guard they are after. I agree on the youth movement, just hope they pan out.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

GMac was suppose to catch a flight to Texas yesterday to see a couple recruits. I know one was a 6'10" 240lb kid...not a banger though...not sure who the other one was.

I don't see any "strong" rumors from that link that Appleton is committing. Rumors, sure, but nothing we haven't heard in the last couple of weeks.

I'm not going to claim to know the exact "chances" of landing TA but I do know that the staff has not given up yet.

I'm thinking that Diante is looking much better, and too many strong reviews about Buckley. Sure, Appleton would be nice, but I'm more worried about another big guy, with Vette gone.

Was he JC or high school?

I agree. To me, Appleton is an upgrade, but not a need. I am more worried about getting a shot-blocking, physical big.

Not sure...but it seems like most of the recruiting out of Texas is high school...so that would be my guess.

I think that it is a need, if not insurance. Appleton should be able to step in right away. Garrett is getting better, but beyond him, I would like to have at least one more other than BP and a true freshman. BP is a serviceable backup, but not someone I want to count on day in and day out. Buckley will take time to adapt, just like Garrett has.

How am I supposed to think outside the box when I work in a cube?

My prediction is we do not get TA. 50/50 we sign another guard.

We will sign another big, but he will be a "face the basket, 3 pt. shooting big".

I believe this may be the guy...Jamie Vanderbeken - Basketball Recruiting...not sure though, just a guess.

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Nice rationalization......So we missed on another one, huh???

I have read on here many times that Appleton would be the cure to all that ails us. And now, he is not coming........Well that sure is encouraging.

He would help ALOT....that is for sure. Unfortunately when we are unable to sign the A list recruits immediately, we tend to lose out.

I haven't seen the official word he is going to KU as of yet however.

Interestingly, Vanderbeken initially committed to Iowa coming out of high school.

I don't think it is a rationalization. We definitely need a big man more than a guard. Appleton would be nice but I'd rather have a bruiser type in the post. I know many others have said the same.
