Vette & Brister

Just curious whether either one enrolled someplace else for the second semester.

Well, from what I heard is that Vette has is on an Intramural team at Wartburg, but I do not think he is playing basketball there.

I still want to know the "real" story on Vette?? We all knew about the homesickness thing, but when people were raggin' on him for that others said there were things that weren't made public that necessitated his leaving.

Anyone know?

Re: Vette & Brister

I spoke with someone very close to Vette back up in Waverly. The answer I got was that he just didn't fit it. I pressed to get more details and they said that was it. He really didn't fit in.
As for tearing it up in the Wartburg intermurals, there will never be anyone who tore it up like I did, but I'm quite certain he's not in school at Wartburg right now.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

I visted with a friend from Waverly this weekend that knows the family. They swear that he really just had that hard of time being away from home. Too bad. I think he would have been a solid player down the road.

Well I suppose we'll see him tending bar in Waverly someday if that is truly the case then. Good luck to him.

It doesn't get much better than Joe's Knighthawk.
The closest thing to an on-campus bar I've seen.

My brother-in-law used to get in scuffles there all of the time. He was a safety for the Knights in the late 80s.

I never had the pleasure of a night at Joe's.

It's too bad about both of those kids. Vette had big minutes ahead of him here over the next three years. And according to people I talked too, Brister was the best drive, and dish guy of any of the guards that we have.

Great taco's, they used to have a lot of karaoke with Jay Conner (free plug for a buddy), and yeah, there were fights. You'd go up there from UNI, and they Wartburg guys had a real inferiority complex about themselves. There were some real doozies.

No offense to the Wartburg grad on the site. I am sure that he was never one of those guys.
