Question About Hamilton

Does anyone know if he is Morman? Is he going to leave for a mission? If he is then wouldn't this eliminate the red short possibility?

Re: Question About Hamilton

I don't know if he's Mormon or not, but if he goes on a mission before enrolling full-time, his time clock for 5 to play 4 won't start. The 5-year clock doesn't start until a student enrolls full time.

Re: Question About Hamilton

Interesting question, but if you go on a mission you can still redshirt. That's why there are so many 25 year old guys on the BYU football team.

Do you mrean red shirt? I thought you could do that after college in some cases.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Re: Question About Hamilton

I was just wondering because I really don't see him being ready for at least two years, then he leaves for a year and who knows if he ever comes back, alot of times they don't...

Re: Question About Hamilton

True, but if he were Mormon I would think that he would at least be interested in BYU. He never visited there and has never been mentioned with them. Regardless it's the last thing I'm worried about at this point.

I would have thought it would have been mentioned by now. Don't know for sure though. Call Mac tonight.

Re: Question About Hamilton

Who else was recruiting him. I know that Greg is excited about his potential (ugly word). I just hope that he can get a post player at this late date, and that Hamilton can redshirt.

Someone posted an article from a Utah paper about this kid a while back, and that wasn't very encouraging. When the writer says that basically the kid wasn't as bad as he thought he was. I hope we don't have to throw him in there too early, could get bad.

That article also said that Hamilton improved more over the course of the year than any other HS player ever had, as witnessed by the writer of the article.

College and the NBA are full of stories of late bloomers, and we may have just recruited one. Big guys like Hamilton need to have these things to succeed in growing into their bodies: determination and work ethic. It sounds like he has these things.

He may not contribute much early on, but could grow into a good player for us.

Not sure what the exemption is called, but I believe kids who go on a Morman mission are allowed 6 years to play 4.
