Yes, I have the right forum for this topic. It concerns basketball. I realize that he was recruited for football, but I think he should play the sport he is best at. If that turns out to be basketball, then I think he should concentrate on that.
I think a reasonable argument could be made that we very well could have won a national championship in MBB in 2000 if Andy Stensrud had concentrated entirely on basketball. If we'd had him, even off the bench, in that infamous Michigan State game to spell Fizer for a bit, and take up space in the paint, we could have won that game, and I don't think the other teams could have beaten us. Instead, he played football, and sustained some some of injury that wouldn't allow him to play basketball.
Now, I don't see us getting into a critical situation like that again, but if there is a chance Sed Johnson could help us more in basketball than football, then I think he should.

I played right tackle against Andy in HS ... he didn't get a sack, but unfortunately he also played offense and outscored our team 14-0.
that is all.

I never knew Andy was much of a basketball player? Anyway weren't his knees giving him problems and that's why he had problems in football? Can't say that problem would have gone away playing basketball.
I think the refs were bought off in that Michigan State Game. No way we get called for as many fouls as we did in the last 5 minutes of that game and Michigan State has zero fouls called without it being fixed!

I played against him in basketball many times in high school. He was really good, but I always thought he was better suited for football. I'm not sure he was D1 national championship team material. That said, who knows what would have happened had he focused on it.

I like the two sport idea for kids but........
Do you guys think we may get better recruits or more recruits in general if we had a baseball program. I have seen on many websites 5 star recruits (in football) tend to go to programs where they can play Baseball as well since Baseball does not coinside with basketball or football??

Quick somebody call Terrelle Pryor, and let him know that we have no problem with him playing both sports. Hell, tell him that we will start baseball back up if he wants to play that too.

You know, if Sed just wants to be an All-American in both, I think I'd be alright with that

Jarret Brown, West Virginia's back up quarterback, plays basketball too. He is pretty good at both sports, and needless to say is a big fan favorite.

If Sed can play both and is good enough, have at it! Andy could have been a good BB player for ISU. I'm baffled to this day that he got moved from TE to OL. I think Chizik would have loved him at TE.
