Re: Brian Carlwell
y does every one just automaticly say thug.. i cant even stand it anymore.. som1 makes a mistake and they are automaticly thugs, or mess ups, give the guy a damn break
back to the topic
ithink he would be a good get IF big IF he is willing to work his rear off and really wants to be part of the team, and listens to Coach Mac.. if he does.. then i say lets try to get him
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -

I don't know anymore about this case than anyone else in this thread which is very little. I am just going to go with common sense and say that most likely this kid wasn't out feeding the poor or teaching to kids to read before his drunk buddy smashed his car. I'm sorry but you're way out of line here, and you have no idea what the situation is. Actually, Carlwell is a good kid that has had a really rough time there. He was very injured in the accident last year and Jamar Smith left him in the car because he thought he was dead. He had a tremendous concussion and didn't play the rest of last year - and then got hurt early this year.
Dispite all this he has remained a steadfast cheerleader for the Illinois program and is a good student. Leave this one alone.

BUT, let's say this kid was stone sober. Well, then I would have to say he is a complete dope for letting someone drive him around who was wasted enough to smash up the car.

Re: Brian Carlwell
Forget this one. We don't have a scholarship to spare while waiting for him to get eligible. Is there any reason why he would consider ISU when we weren't involved in recruiting him the first go 'round? Webber and Ill. aren't exactly tearing up the Big 10, and if he can't get playing time there next year with Pruitt and Randal graduating why would we want him???

Re: Brian Carlwell
My question is, is our staff even interested in him?

Re: Brian Carlwell
I like guys who make good decisions and it looks like wouldn't like him at ISU, he made the decision not to drive when his friend was driving drunk, not a good decision another guy who didnt make good decisions got kicked off our team(ie Mike Taylor)

You are outta your mind if you compare Brian Carlwell to Mike Taylor. Just a stupid and foolish comment .

Re: Brian Carlwell
Man, there are some amazing things written on here sometimes....
Let's just stay away from recruiting any kids who will even have the potential of being in trouble, even if they are just a passenger in a vehicle which gets into an accident. Let's go ahead and start recruiting in the church and rec leagues and start targeting the home-schooled kids as well.
