Who would you rather have?
LA Pomlee or Jamie Vanderbeken? LA is an academic risk and Vanderbeken is Juco. Neither are perfect but I would like to see one sign.

Re: Who would you rather have?
Interesting team name for Jamie Vanderbeken's AAU team.

Re: Who would you rather have?
Vanderbeken. This may sound stupid but 4 to 5 in a freshman class is plenty. McD needs to get his classes evened out somewhat, he could have 8 to 9 underclassmen and only 5 upperclassmen next year. I just think the staff can do more to get players in the future if you have 3 or 4 spots to fill (the class of 2010 will be 2 players right now and one is taken, I think it would be hard to save a spot for a certin guard).
A JUCO big would be more ready to play than a freshman bodywise.

Re: Who would you rather have?
Neither really. If you put a gun to my head I would say Vanderbeken. Usually I would say the H.S kid but I have seen Pomlee play and he was very lazy. Not terribly impressive

Re: Who would you rather have?
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -

Slow is a condition that rarely leaves.

Re: Who would you rather have?
lazy. Granted it was only a game and a half but I expected him to seperate himself from the other players and he never did that

Re: Who would you rather have?
LA in a heartbeat. I have seen a couple of his games on TV and have talked to AAU coaches that have played him, he is a legit talent. I have also hear that his 'academic problems' are basicly rumors that have run out of control...

Re: Who would you rather have?
Notorious VDB. Both because he should be a little more ready, and we can use that awesome nickname I just made up.

If They Are Players, I'd Take Both!
We have 2 scholarships available (Vette & Brister)- I'm not sure we have a Big 12 post player on our current roster. Sure Brackins has the talent- but IMO he's not a sure thing. C. Johnson & Thompson appear to be 5-10 mpg guys at most.
I'd take the JUCO if GMAC feels he can play 30 mpg next season & if he's a physical low post defender. If Pomlee has potential, I'd take him too & let him develop over a couple years.
I know GMAC was looking at guards- but IMO Garrett, Petersen, Buckley, Staiger, Haluska, Boozer & Eikmeier should be enough.

Re: Who would you rather have?
LA was VERY impressive when I watched him.

Re: Who would you rather have?
I'm interested in being better next year, and it seems to me Vanderbeken would help out that cause a hell of a lot more.

Re: Who would you rather have?
Tyler Junior College has Vanderbeken listed at 6-10 240 lbs. and it sounds like he could help us out right away from what I have read. Tyler Junior College - 2007-08 Men's Basketball Rosters
