To me the "we're not good so I'm not going to the game" excuse is terrible but we all can't be diehard fans I guess.

How about the "I'm working in WDM until around 6 pm because it's busy season" excuse; is that good enough for you?

I agree, this is pathetic. People are now complaining about things that they think might happen.

Well there has been a trend this season that the crowds have been disappointing in similar situations. I just wish this would never be an issue and we'd have people complaining they can't get tickets to the game instead. The only thing pathetic have been the attitudes of those who think we have to be good to have a reason to go to a game.

I dont understand why people are complaining about the crowd so much, compared to a lot of teams like texas tech and iowa we have enormous crowds, if we were one of those schools then we should start complaining

True, but we have a history of being better than this with our crowds. I'd say I have not missed too many BB games since 1998 which was my freshman year in college and went to a few games from time to time before then that weren't necessarily marquee games either and in that time frame we've had a few rough seasons mixed in there but the crowds still seem better than they have the last 3 seasons or so. I have not heard Hilton rocking nearly as loud as it has in the past, we are kidding ourselves if we truely believe that Hilton Magic hasn't suffered at least a little lately.

Can we get through one home game without ******** about the crowd? Please? Our home crowds have been better than the majority of the crowds we've played in front of in other Big XII arenas, and we're in freaking 11th place.

No matter how many people are there, if this is any kind of a basketball game, the crowd is going to be really loud. If that can't get your adrenaline going, then you might as well stay home anyway.

I was not turning this into a bash thread, this is reasonable criticism. Here's my stance on the fan attendance: you go to games and root for your team in good times and in bad. I don't think people that will only show up when the team is good are very loyal or good fans. Just as our fight song says "loyal sons forever true..." saying you'll only attend games when we are good is not very loyal. I know people will show up when we get better but I think the people that are fair weather like that are crappy fans. Another thing, people complain about mediocrity, you do realize that ticket sales is a big part of what funds the programs right? Putting butts in the seats helps out the athletic budget which we all know is one of the smaller ones in the Big 12. Where do you think some of the funds for all these renevations are coming from?

It helps to do more than just show up to the game, you have to root too. Maybe more students are missing games than they should be, but the ones that make it out cheer the rest of Hilton

Another thing, put yourselves in the athletes shoes for a moment. They play hard regardless and "show up" in a sense for every game. They don't pick and chose when to play regardless who we are playing against or how good or bad the team is and neither should our fans.

The players also play the entire game. They can't choose to leave because we aren't playing well, or leave when we have the game all bagged up because they want to beat traffic home. Stay the entire game, and show your appreciation for their hard work, rather than showing them your backside as you are scurrying to get home. You're going to be sitting for 20 minutes in the cold parking lot anyways, whats 2 more minutes in a warm building?

Seems like everyone here likes to complain about this and that and how come we are as good as everyone wants us to be.

Everyone needs to quit yelling at each other and just start yelling at the game insted. It'll make everything better

Ok, last peep on this cuz it just thought of this. The whole "people will show up if we are winning" thing again... well you do realized playing in front of a packed house that is loud nearly every game is a big recruiting tool. I'd love it if even for a NW Podunk Tech State kind of game we would not be scared to have recruits there in fear that a smaller crowd would not look good. Wouldn't it be great to tell a potential recruit "it's always like this no matter who we are playing."

So the attendance and crowd does factor into the success of the program some because you never know if that 1 recruiting visit a kid makes that his impression of a home game atmosphere might weigh into his decision. I'm sure that is 1 factor that is fairly important in the decision. If you are a fairly good recruit you want to play in front of lots of people and get exposure.

No we don't do that in Hilton, because we expect to win at home regardless of the opponent. I will be ****** if they storm the court, plus they do enough of that in Football.
