Re: Diante Garrett
How tall is vanderbeken. I know pomlee is 6"7 or 6"8. I heard pomlee sucks at defense

Re: Diante Garrett
Garrett is turning into a good player. Getting up to speed was not only limited by being a freshmen but also having limited options around him throughout the year. If we had better shooters Garrett's job of being an effective PG would be a lot easier.
I think he will be an effective player but we need depth... much like how KU is 2 starter deep at every position. Hopefully Buckley fills that need long term with Bryan and Sean assisting next year.
I think we now need one dominate inside man more than anything else and for Lucca to play like a veteran. Hopefully Brackins takes a big step in the off season and gets his grove back.

Re: Diante Garrett
Vanderbeaken is 6'11". Pomlee isn't a great defender now, but he has the frame and athleticism to turn into one.

Wasn't that a movie? -

I am not going to go in depth about Vanderbeaken, as most of what I know about him I learned on the CR premium board. Do a Google search on him, you should be able to find info pretty easily.

Re: Diante Garrett
I was calling for Diante to start from the beginning of the year. He is really playing like a true PG right now and I am loving every minute of it. I am telling you that a Buckley, Garrett and Lucca back court next year is going to be killer.

Re: Diante Garrett
I think if Garrett continues to make strides and improves in the off season as much as he has during this season, we could see Buckley redshirting. I am not sure about the other teams in the conference but I remember the anouncers were saying in the Nebraska game the other night that Doc has 4 pretty good players redshirting this year. Do we have any true redshirts this year? Lucca doesn't count.

Re: Diante Garrett
I was also impressed with Garrett tonight. He looked way better than he did to start the season.
I'm not excited about the prospect of Pomlee at all. We have plenty of people to play the 4 in the years going forward (Brackins, CJ, Mann, and even Wesley). We don't need another 6-7 "big". We need someone who can play the 5 and legitimately defend Big XII caliber big men. Pomlee is not that guy.

Re: Diante Garrett
if diante can develop a stroke, he'll be an all big 12 caliber guard. the thing that worries me is that he reminds me a little bit of curtis stinson. curtis was such a good finisher and driver, but the kid couldn't knock down jumpers consistenly. i'm pretty sure it wasn't a matter of work ethic as i'd heard that he worked on his shot constantly and was always in the gym working on it. good shots need time to develop and i hope it doesn't take diante as long as it took curtis. thankfully, i think diante's decision making is 10 times better than stinson's.

Re: Diante Garrett
For that matter, Vanderbeaken doesn't thrill me either.
It is slim pickings however.
