What would YOU do different than McDermott?
I thought I'd offer a similar thread to the one about Chizik.
As for me, I'd bring back the series with Creighton. Even though we'd probably get our butts handed to us, even in Hilton, for a little while. Iowa State needs a LOT more exposure in the Omaha area, and a regular series with Creighton would allow for that. (I am not certain that the two events are connected, but it was about the time that Floyd canceled the Creighton MBB series that we lost our last Cyclone Radio Network station in Omaha/Council Bluffs for ISU football games)

If I had his build I'd pick some fights with the refs and the other coaches.... if nothing else it would make for something fun to watch.

I think you just open up a can of worms here. Let the debate begin.

Keep players on campus for more than 1 season. Honestly if his recruiting efforts step up he will be just fine. I'm not worried about his X's and O's at all.

I would much rather see a series with a Chicago area team.

Keep his players out of trouble (Taylor). Make the players visit Coach Shep and put some weight on this off season.

I would say most of his recruits that are gone left for a reason he could not forsee. I doubt he finds a guy and says "he'll probably leave early, but oh well..."

I think you are incorrect. But what do I know, I am just some dumba$$ poster on a message board... Exactly...

I want to see him throw a chair to get T-ed up when we're down, just to fire up the team/crowd. It would be totally unexpected from him, since he seems so in control.

Keep the series vs Minnosota up plus another game aginst the a Big 10258 team. After the Bradley series is over have another one set up the same way aginst another MVC team.

That's fine but it still happened twice with his second recruiting class. The excuses are over on that front and he needs to do a better job there. Whether it happens for good reason or not it's hurting our performance on the court. I'm not killing the guy for it but "it is what it is" at this point.

Re: What would YOU do different than McDermott?
Opening Pandora's Box: I would consider running a different offense if I had no true point guard left. I would force the ball inside right at the start much more. I would play more Cam Lee and Booze and Cory. I thnk the rebounding reel from Michigan coud be played for all. I might consider letting SH be a PG. I would ask BP to dribble in the lane more and take some 10 footers. Oh well, it is too late anyway. Strike all of the above. We are what we are: 42% shooters.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I was surprised at Vette leaving mid game...
