2004 NIT semifinal
Mediacom Connections 22 showed a reply of the 2004 Rutgers NIT semi-final a few nights ago. What a great game. It's easy to forget how much Stinson tried to create his own shot time and time again without looking to pass. Holman and Vroman had little or no involvement offensively down the stretch. Sure he scored a lot of points, but can you image how successful the offense could have been if the ball was spread around more, really opening things up for everybody. Although he made a crucial shot to put the game in overtime, it was also obvious the Jake had lost his shot somewhat, due to injuries likely. Really off-balance.
Something else I noticed and wonder what everybody thought. In OT Vroman got hurt, supposedly a cramp. Sullivan whispers something in his ear, and all the sudden he can't come back in the game. Neal comes in and clanks two free-throws. Think Vroman tanked on purpose to get Neal to the line?
I'm not sure how a team of Blaylock, Stinson, Sullivan, Holman and Vroman didn't make the NCAAs even with the freshman guards.

Yeah, that team had great potential. If it wasn't for Quincy Douby, we would have won that game handily.
