Re: How far behind is ISU basketball...
Any losing season is hard I was hoping for a winning record but I don't think it will happen. I think with the play of some players we can be happy with the future with consistency. I think Jiri and Rahshon will go out happy knowing they're the reason we didn't go winless in the big 12 with a horrible record. Im ready for next year already lol Occam's Razor means 'With all things being equal , the simplest explanation/answer is normally the right one' -

I just hope we finish the season without injury. Guys need to be ready for summer workouts.

How far behind is ISU basketball:
11th Place and having two losing seasons if we do not win 2 of next 3 games. Last 2 years we were about 90-100. This year we are 110-120. We are one of the lowest rated Sagarin teams in BCSville (maybe 15 lower than us.)
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: How far behind is ISU basketball...
At least our program hasn't sunk to the depths that Oregon State has, and we are on our way up.

Re: How far behind is ISU basketball...
i seriously don't see the team next year to be any better. Yes i know the argument of "but look at everywhere else he has been, in year three he always gets it turned around" but the fact is that we have had such a player turnonver rate that this year was harder on Mac than his first. I won't expect NIT or a sniff of NCAA till at least year 4

You could be/probably are right on here. I just choose to ignore those facts -
Re: How far behind is ISU basketball...
I didn't think we'd be very good but that early season stretch was uglier than I imagined it could be and I kind of freaked out a little bit. The team improved a little bit since then and showed promise at times but the reality is we're a bottom dweller again this year.
What happens next year? Right now I'm skeptical we'll improve enough to get into postseason play and am dreading what seems to be an annual rite of spring for us when the transfer rumors start.

Re: How far behind is ISU basketball...
Is there any players that are unhappy and want to transfer?

Re: How far behind is ISU basketball...
Just look at playing time and start counting who barely touches the court. With the newbies coming in, expect less playing time next year for most of the oldbies.

When we lost Mike, I still thought we had a remote shot at the NCAA's, maybe sneaking in with 18 or 19 wins. I did NOT originally think losing him would hurt this bad.
When Lucca was screwed over, I took off another 2-3 wins, so I was thinking 15-17 wins with a remote chance at the NIT.
In the back of my mind, I had hoped we'd still pull off a special season somehow, but with Jiri's early injury, Wes not being 100% all year as well as Rahshon, playing a few walkons...I'm not surprised where we're at.
Looking back, I'm really ticked with the NCAA in screwing Lucca over and REALLY ticked with Mike T being such an idiot. I can't wait till next year; this one has just been plain ol bad...
I do really like Gmac though and am really excited for the future - I think/hope the 08 class will surprise some people. Cloned4Life:
I completely agree with your assessment of the team and the season.
Unfortunately, I recall a Big 12 forecast that pickded us to finish 11th in the Big 12 - looks like they were right, but probably for the wrong reasons.

Mike was a very solid player, especially at the college level.

Mike was a very solid player, especially at the college level. He very well could be drafted. He's a very talented player, but I still say he was a good but not great player for us. He shot below 40% and led the nation in turnovers (I know, I know, he was asked to do a lot). I think if the word "great" is thrown out with those facts, then it is being thrown around way too loosely.

Re: How far behind is ISU basketball...
You have to have a lot of touches to lead the nation in turnovers. Mike Taylor also excelled inm this area, but he usually had 100k ball bounces per game while running at 40 mph.
