On a sunnier note, Diante really matured tonight. He play the best game of his short career so far. Like the announcers said on the game, he is going to be a very good point guard in the future. To bad we lost, but they can take some things out of that game.
"These are my new shoes. They're good shoes. They won't make you rich like me, they won't make you rebound like me, they definitely won't make you handsome like me. They'll only make you have shoes like me. That's it." - Charles Barkley
Guys...lay off the zebras. They reversed the charge call or called it out of bounds on Petey - right call.
And we got a GIFT a bit before that at the other end.
No a charge was called and it is never a shooting foul. Change of possession in a 1 possession game in double OT, inexcusible.
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'
Wes fouled the guy on the play before when the shot clock expired and they should have gotten free throws. The calls even themselves out. Unfortunate for us.
The big question is why was Peterson bringing the ball up the court instead of Garrett on the flop posession? I just don't get it. This was a well officiated game with the exception of Mizzou and ISU's final posessions that counted.
DG was a man among boys out there tonight - completely at another level. On the road in pressure situations - continuing to make plays for us.
We lose huge without him.
I really like our future now at the PG position with him. He's consistently been pretty good for us for a few weeks now. It's no accident or aberration - we're seeing what he can and will do.
This loss hurts after being up by 12 in the second half. Had a period of time where Mizzou turned up the defensive pressure and our guys couldn't handle the full court press. That 5 minute stretch at about the 10 minute mark in the second half was what lost the game for us.
Can we all say homered now. Man am I getting sick of team man handling ISU without getting fouls called on them. Sure they did call some fouls on MU, about a third of them.
ISU shot 35 FTs. Not buyin' it...
"Don't worry Boss...they can't do nothin' 'til they're through sparklin'..."
