DG....
After the Mizzou game, do you think that McD tries to get DG to penetrate more and try to create a shot.
Or was this just the gameplan for this particular game.
(yes i realize it was mizzou but still we looked like a different team)
I personally think DG proved his worth and deserves to "run" the offense after his performance on Wednesday Night

I personally think DG proved is worth and deserves to "run" the offense after his performance on Wednesday Night McD has stated many times that DG is the only player capable of breaking down the defense on his own. Even Wesley struggles to "beat" his guy off the dribble and penetrate.

If he' trying to take it to the hole, he always dribbles with his right hand, and some teams exploit that weakness.

Re: DG....
One thing is for sure, I like our chances against Mizzou with Diante at the helm for the next 3 years. He's played some great ball against them.

Re: DG....
Garrett had a lot of success against MU because they are horrible on half court defense. There were openings up the middle all night. We are just lucky to have a coach smart enough to take advantage.

Re: DG....
I don't care what team you are, that is a key to success no matter what. My favorite thing about Tinsley was that he could break anybody down and take it to the hole.

Even made the layup.

I believe Cy was talking about Wesley...

Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:

Re: DG....
There are a lot of good things that can happen when you have a guy that has the ability to take it to the hole and score like DG. The most important of which is the ability to deviate from set plays. In reality, if a team can scout at all, a set play (or its variation) only works... once. However, if you threaten a team with a slash to the hoop they have to respect that, while watching you run your set play. I really hope this IS being stressed by Mac, because in my mind it is essential to win games.
"I think that people are responding to someone standing up and saying this is what we want to do and let's not be afraid to go for it,'' Pollard said. "I think Iowa State has a very conservative, modest background. We never pound our chest and say `Let's do it.' It's OK to set a goal. You can't do it if you don't say what you want to do. You should be proud of it.''

Re: DG....
My excitement and aspirations for '08/'09 MBB certainly increased a lot as a result of Garrett's play the last few weeks. He's been at his best against teams like Texas, Kansas and the tough Mizzu press. Plus, in crunch time he made some key plays and shots in that game Wednesday. Ya gotta like that.

Don't forget CB making all of his free throws in the last few minutes, it seems to me that CB and DG are both really clutch players.

He needs to spend the summer in NYC at Rucker Park.

Re: DG....
DG can go to his left. He is unpredictable. That is good.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
