Iowa Boys HS Tourney...

I didn't know what forum to post this in, so I figured ISU MBB was as good as any..... Just a few observations and questions regarding the Iowa' boys tourney in DSM this week. I've watched as much video footage as I could find on the Rag website, as well as WOI and KWWL's websites. I have to say, overall, I'm very impressed with the level of play by the 3A and 4A teams. There are some D-I signees and prospects on many of the teams playing this week, but besides the individuals, the team play on the court has been really fun to watch (from the limited clips I've seen)... lots of dunks, 3-balls, etc... I've heard talk in the past how the talent and level of play in Iowa has improved a lot over the last few decades, and I can't argue with that.

Also, LA Pomlee is in the title game tonight... has anyone seen him play in the tourney this week? I've seen a couple snippets of him making some pretty easy shots, and he looks to be a load. AND, Williams from CR Kennedy looks like he has serious game. I realize ISU is pretty set at guard for the next couple years, but considering the revolving door at Hilton for players the last few years, I would hope the coaching staff goes after him...

and finally.... is there any feel on how fans like Wells Fargo Arena by now? this is what, the 3rd year of tourneys there? I have to say watching highlights on the internet, it looks like a great, big-time environment for a state tourney. I ask only b/c a few years ago when it switched over from Vets, people thought it was too sterile, too big, too pricey, no history, etc.. etc...

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Pomlee will be playing in 4A championship game tonight. Game will be televised on the CW here in Iowa. (Channel 9 on mediacom and channel 20 in eastern iowa). The CW used to be the WB network.

Good chance to see this kid in action. I'll be very interested to see how he does because I have a feeling he is gonna get a ISU offer. No inside info, just a feeling.

Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

frontrangeclone: love your picture of Sean Connery signed by Roger Moore! Classic Simpsons.

Haven't seen much of the tournament this year. Just followed the scores on iahsaa.org. They've got a good archives link if you haven't seen that yet.

Anyone know if the 1A and 2A games were on TV last night?

Yes, they were. There was a NDSU recruit on Fort Dodge St. Edmond, but he looked terrible. He can't move, and can't rebound. Both games were pretty close though.

Andy Nagel...he's 6'8'' and about as slow as any one human can be. He can't jump, he can't shoot, and he's too slow to defend anyone. He's got a soft touch around the rim, but he's too slow to get around anyone. He used to be able to push people around but as he's gotten older he hasn't gotten much better, if any better at all.

Hull Western Christian won their 2nd straight 2A title and will be the odds on favorite next year with 4 of their top players returning. That is quite a tradition they have built there.

Hmmm, Western Christian, Pella Christian, St. Edmonds, and Dubuque Wahlert (Catholic) going deep into the tourney, looks like some help from above with some of these teams....

Northwest Iowa has always been a basketball hotbed. Boyden-Hull, Western Christian, MOC-Floyd Valley, Unity Christian, etc, etc. Has Boyden-Hull ever missed a state tournament? Seems like they're there every year.

Boyden-Hull started the season 4-11 before winning every game until they got beat on Thursday. My dad played at Western Christian way back in the day, as well as many realatives. They are always tough.

That was two of the most unlikely events at the end of any game in the same game.
