Let me first say that I'm 100% behind McD in his recruiting, and coaching.
One thing I thought would have been nice was to get the walk on seniors a little PT in the game. Those guys have worked their butts off, but maybe there just isn't room for that risk. I just figure that being 4-11 this year, it's not going to kill the team to honor the seniors with some playing time in their last game at Hilton. Now, maybe they will play in the Big 12 tourney or maybe McD has honored them in other ways, but just my take.

I would agree with this if the game was a blowout but we were in it til the end. Winning a game is much more important than playing the seniors in my mind.

don't all of the seniors typically start? I just assumed that included walk-ons.

I agree and feel the same way. Was pretty surprised when they were doing the starting lineup

I had similar thoughts as I was walking out today but I think that they have both gotten some time in a conference game but I may be wrong.

Should have started all 4 and took the walk-ons out at first dead ball IMO.

I agree with the idea...but only could see it happening had we been down by a lot or up with a comfortable lead in the final minutes of the game. McD and the guys on the court fought to the end to win that game for the seniors, they just couldn't get it done.
IMO, if Currie and Smith are in during the last 4-5 minutes, it's more than 4-pt loss. Not knocking Currie and Smith because they've done a lot for the program and I respect the hell out of guys who PAY to play a sport while their teammates are getting paid, but they weren't the best guys for the situation.
Playing them at the start, would as you guys have pointed out, been a nice gesture though. Some coaches do it, some don't.

My first thought after seeing the starting lineups was Coach Mac must really think we have a shot at winning this game, if he's not even starting the senior walk-ons.

I'm sure the senior walk-ons would have much rather had a W, then a couple minutes of garbage time or a start. If you start them you risk digging yourself a hole.

Mac has said he doesn't believe in playing seniors just because it's Senior Day. I bet he let all of them know how much he appreciates them in his own way.

I agree... McD says he doesn't play them if he wouldn't play them normally... I'm sure the players don't have a problem with that.
