Wes Eikmeier needs a nickname (doesn't he?)

We already have a Wes.

Wes Johnson is his name.

If we don't find a way to easily distinguish between Wes Eikmeier and Wes Johnson, some of us will be driven nuts on the message boards in coming years attempting to understand to which Wes the poster is referring.

My personal favorite is "Ike" for Wes Eikmeier. I don't care for Eik, looks like "Ick" to me for some reason. Plus, Ike Eisenhower is fondly recalled by many of we Baby Boomers.

What do you all think? Does Wes E. require a nickname? If so, what should it be? I can add to the poll (can't I?) if some good suggestions turn up.

Huh. I just noticed that there's a precedence for substituting an "I" for an "E".

"E"isenhower. Doh!

Funny the stuff your mind's eye fails to see. . . .

"Ike" Eisenhower
"Ike" Eikmeier

I think that was funny too. I'm not a baby boomer but will have to admit that it was surprisingly much easier to read. Can we make that the standard size and font?

Note: I'm not a baby boomer because I'm a war baby which preceded the baby boomers which is why I'd recommend Eichmann except for the negative connotation.

I think I prefer our German (Eisenhower) to that German. Guess I'm just weird that way. (I'm sorry, but I despise those National Socialists so much I can't joke about them . . . I'm glad Mel Brooks was able to, though.)

How about we call him Trey?

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

"Trey." That's good. I was going to add it to the poll, but I don't see a way to open it up and add to it.

Hey, why is "Ike" in the poll italicized? I'm not aware that I did that; don't like the appearance that somehow, because that's my favorite option, I'm trying to call attention to it. I don't believe rigged elections are a good thing. . . .

(Could a poll's top vote-getter automatically get the ital, I wonder?)

is his name pronounced ike-imer

Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.

"The one thing I really want to say is to tell the fans thank you for everything," Johnson said. "You rooted for me, you were behind me with my injury, and I really appreciated that."
