3-pt line

Just heard the announcers on the OSU/MSU game say that the 3-pt line is moving back 1' next year for the men. I had heard talk about this before, but didn't know it was a done deal. Anyone know for sure?

Great, just when we feel like we've got some long distance shooters coming in or becoming un-screwed by the NCAA, they make the 3-pt shot that much harder!

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.

No, I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm back in Des Moines but I don't feel like changing my username.

It is a confirmed rule. We've had the new line painted on our floor all year where I work.

Yup, it's a done deal. And, I've watched Lucca shoot in practice and warm-up before the games.

Guess where he's already shooting from. :)

Does anybody else think that when teams play on courts with the pro 3 point line (Big East Tournament) that it seems like people shoot from behind that line more then inside of it but behind the current 3 pt line. I don't think moving the 3 pt line back will make much of a difference as lots of players already shoot from that far back.

This will really help open up the middle for Craig and Wes. This distance shouldn't hurt Eikmeier, he was shooting from way behind the line. It will also get rid of some of the double teams Craig will inevitably face next year.

It may discourage us as a team from shooting so many ... which wouldn't be all bad.

Did I hear during the game last night that we had both the worst FG % in the Big 12 as well as the worst 3 PT FG %?

ouch.

Yes, it is correct our % in both FG and 3PT shooting ranks last in the Big 12.

I doubt it will discourage us from shooting that much since McD's offense is to live and die by the three. Why else do you think we chucked so many up this year?

I suppose so, though Mac never looks overly pleased with anyone besides Peterson putting up a three.

I think Brackins is giving him an ulcer with the grimaces he had on his face last night.

Re: 3-pt line

I think it makes a lot of sense to move it back for college. This will make it more like International.

High School 3pt line = 19 feet, 9 inches.
College 3pt line (will now be) = 20 feet, 9 inches.
International/Olympic 3pt line = 20 feet, 6 inches.
NBA = 23 feet 9 inches on the top side and 22 feet in the corners.

It should help create more space between perimeter and post players and should open up more room for drives to the hoop and post moves.

Of course, the women's 3 point line for college isn't moving. So, we will still have 2 lines on the floor. One for men and one for women.

you would think they'd just match it up with the international line ... what's 3 inches?

Since when has the NCAA done anything that made sense?

might as well make the 3pt line the same as it is in the nba

"What?... you can't kill him if he's wearing people clothes!"

Not true - we were 8th in the conference in 3s made at 6 (Baylor was first with 9 per game) and our 3pt % was last in the conference at 31% (KU was first at 39%). Those numbers don't seem to support your "live and die by the 3" statement. We took less than everyone and made a hell of a lot less than everyone.

Ask your wife, she should know.

"My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious. "
