Is it possible....
Is it possible for their to be individual improvement on a bball team without team improvement overall? I actually think this happened to some degree with this team.
Thoughts?

Re: Is it possible....
We defninitely have a number of guys that got better. I think we played so-so team basketball.
The games we won though - were the epitome of team ball, most notably the Mizzu game at home. Other games, when we got behind - a few guys made selfish panic decisions and we spiraled downward further.
I love that our team never quit. It's so huge. It won't show up in the win column right now - but that type of attitude will pay off.

of course, some players improve and others dont play up to their potential

Re: Is it possible....
I think you see this in the NBA all the time. A team like the Atlanta Hawks, has a bunch of quality players, from Johnson to Smith to Horford etc. They just don't have a PG and their chasing their own stats.
I don't think that was happening at ISU per se, but I do think a lot of the guys got better. I think they lost confidence once we started the slide in late January and so it didn't show up in the wins column. But it's obvious a lot of guys got better.
Just need to get them all on the same page, playing the system, and playing to their strengths.

Re: Is it possible....
Interesting point. I think that is very possible this year, and part of the reason the overall team didn't seem to get better with individual player improvement (Haluska, Garrett, Brackins) was because when one person had a great night, someone else seemed to falter. Not to mention the injury problems all year (Wesley, Rahshon, Jiri) kept us from achieving a consistent "team" feel. And, like 22 said, there were times where we just went into panic mode and collapsed.

Re: Is it possible....
Good post, I wonder what GMac's previous teams were like prior to his 3rd year, we know the records, but was it like we saw this year. Individual improvement in year #2, resulting in a very good 3rd year?
Improvement all around with the returning guys, I hope AT improves his offense and keeps hitting the weights. Work in the weight room is going to be so key for these guys this off-season and Diante working on his jump shot.
It's wierd how I'm so glad this season is over, but I've never wanted next season to start as soon as possible. I pray I'm not setting myself up for major heart-break next season, but all I'm expecting is to see some hope for this program and post season play in year #4.

Well, I guess I'll have to admit I feel the same way, since I was wondering this afternoon when the finalized schedule for 2008-2009 will be out. Could someone in the know fill me in.
Thanks
