Dominique Buckley and Iowa State chose each other early, and both are probably still pleased with the union.
Buckley, a senior point guard at Romulus, committed to the Cyclones as a junior, thus eliminating the possibility of recruiters hounding him during his senior year.
"I liked the coaching staff. I liked the players, and I felt it was a great opportunity for me to go there and play a lot," Buckley said.
"I talked to my family and they thought it was a good idea. ... I didn't have to worry about looking into the crowd and wondering what coaches were there looking at me because I was already set."
Pleased with his decision and focused solely on winning basketball games, Buckley led the Eagles (22-4) to the Final Four and the Breslin Center at Michigan State.
"This year was great for me," said Buckley. "I played with a great group of guys. I wouldn't have picked anyone else to play with. It was great. We accomplished a lot. We won the league and made it to the Final Four. There's not too much more you can ask for other than winning a state championship, but we played well."
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
