Cyclone Fanatics
As recruiting battles heat up; coaches are constantly looking for anything to give them an edge. Recruits are looking for anything negative/positive to help them make their decision. Many posters do not realize how much opposing coaches and recruits use boards like this one.
I know a good debate helps make conversation on here enjoyable, but it can be damaging during recruiting. As Cyclone fans, please keep things positive during recruiting.
We all want ISU to be successful...Thanks

Re: Cyclone Fanatics
Hey recruits, if you're reading this, go to Iowa State! We have a good coach, and Iowa is a very friendly state. I hope you come to Iowa State, and good luck to you.

Re: Cyclone Fanatics
Hey recruits. Come to Iowa State. We'd be happy to show you around.

This is an excellent post. These kids are the future of our program.

Re: Cyclone Fanatics
Every fan base has the same debates. We are no different. This board doesn't reflect anything different than any other fan base's board would reflect. If anything, it shows we care more because of the level of traffic this board gets compared to others.

Re: Cyclone Fanatics
It would have been interesting to have this board around when Lafester Rhodes was being recruited. After his freshman and sophomore season people would have been saying how he will never contribute, and how he wasn't Big 8 caliber.
Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. -

We all know how walk-ons are treated now-a-days.

Re: Cyclone Fanatics
Some people think they know more and can judge talent better than the coaching staff (even though they have never seen them play of course). Judging talent and potential recruits cannot be done by ANY of us yet some here want to act like they know who is good and who isn't. I don't know if that makes them feel important or what.
We KNOW recruits read CF...what good does it do to bash some of them when the basher has absolutely no idea about the recruit?

This is inaccurate. We can tell all we need to know about a recruit just by knowing the size of the town from which they come and the state in which they live.

Re: Cyclone Fanatics
I LOVE these posts!!!! Yes, this message board will make our break ISU Basketball's future! I can just picture Jimmy Calhoun scouring over CycloneFanatic looking for recruit names. Don't give him any guys and gals.
Oh, and Jimmy, if you are reading this then please enjoy all of the off-topic threads but keep your nose out of the men's basketball threads!
If any recruits are reading this, Iowa State is a great place, but if you come here, be prepared to be taken down by yours truly in arm wrestling.

Re: Cyclone Fanatics
It IS true that these sites are scanned by recruits. That is a fact.
All KG is trying to say is to think before you type some rediculous post or start slamming a potential recruit. We have enough going against us to start off.

We all want ISU to be successful...Thanks Well said. Posters, including myself, we just need to sit back and CHILL OUT. Let's continue to make CF enjoyable for all.

Then he actually had declining numbers for both his 2nd & 3rd year of playing. If there had not been a drastic void of post players, he probably would not have even returned for his 5th year. He wasn't the best option for playing the post, he was the only option.

Re: Cyclone Fanatics
Thanks for a well-written and realistic heads-up, kg. It's been impossible for me to understand why any real fan would slam one of our recruits who the coaches wanted and who has committed to come here. Just unbelievable.
