Re: dominique buckley
Well, the good news is he's good at taking his guy one and one and distributing for a three or a closer easy basket. Classic dribble, drive, motion (DDM) offense ala Memphis. That would be great with Wes, Lucca, and Brackins.
Now the bad news. This was all I saw and nothing like what we run. It's going to take awhile for him to get used to GMac's offense. I would expect some bumpy roads his freshman year.

after seeing that video I wouldn't be suprised if he starts over DG at the point. I don't think we have to worry about him having too bumpy of a road, if he didn't think his game would fit under McDermott's system he just wouldn't have come here.

I agree. He can adapt to prett much any style and McD. loves this kid. He was on the Michigan dream team and I have seen him play several times so I dont worry about him hitting any bumps besides the usual freshman bumps, as far as fitting in with the McD system, it will be an easy transition for him and he will make us proud if we as fans understand he is going to make a few mistakes until he gets his feet wet. after all, he had plenty of other colleges to choose from and he picked ISU because of Mac.

Re: dominique buckley
Great find. I wouldn't be surprised if he came in and played a ton of minutes but he is a freshman and there will be bumps. There are for every freshman.

Re: dominique buckley
I like how he plays with his food before he eats em up. He looks to have some great skills. Cant wait for next season.

Re: dominique buckley
Great vision of the court and excellent passer for a high school player. He will have to learn not to set up so close to the out-of-bounds line. That is a doulbe team trap waiting to happen.

Re: dominique buckley
And 9 months from now we will be talking about his freshman learning curve. He will struggle just like every other freshman.

GMac is known for running a ton of plays and it looks like Romulus is on the opposite end of that spectrum. Hanging out just beyond half court toying with the defense isn't going to work in the Big 12 either. It'll either be in the opponents basket for an easy two or he'll be in the dog house for burning too much shot clock before the offense runs. He's going to have a huge adjustment, especially mentally. He'll probably progress very much like DG, probably slower. A comparison to Bates at QB might be appropriate.
That said, I think he has a much better upside that DG. Better prospect as a true point and passer. It just may not be until his last 2-3 years before we see that. DG probably saw more playing time than Buckley will too considering both him and Petersen are still in the mix. Might be a three headed monster at point next year.

A lot is made of just Freshman struggling. I think last year nearly all out players struggled the same amount. So that kinda kills the 'freshman struggle' theory.

Re: dominique buckley
IMO, Buckley starts with Garret, Lucca, Wes J, and Brackins.

Greg's offense has been slower paced and non motion because he simply hasn't had a guard who could drive and dish and not turn it over like it appears Buckley can. True, Diante showed flashes of that but early in the season he had a tendancy to turn it over and wasn't the best at dishing out.
I think our offensive sets are going to look a lot different next year.

I think our offensive sets our going to look a lot different next year. Exactly. Everyone assumes Greg runs this slow down offense. The reason we have slowed things down the past couple years is that we haven't had PG's that are capable of running a faster pace. DG and Buckley will fill that role, eventually.
