I am now starting to think this should be the new name for this website. I cannot figure some people out. People want to rip on McDermott because he can't recruit and couldn't land Vanderbeken. Now he has and this still isn't good enough. For next year he has signed:
Buckley (Super Prospect)
Pomlee (Super Prospect)
Eikmeier - probably underrated because he is small town
Vanderbeken - who people didn't think we had a chance at
because UConn had moved in on him
In addition to these guys he signed three other solid prospects. What will it take in his recruiting for people to stop all the griping. This is getting ridiculous and frankly quite old when it comes to recruiting.

If some people didn't gripe they would wither away and turn to dust. Its just in their nature. If they didn't argue than we would have nothing to talk about =) But I agree with your assessment.

I dont think pomlee will be very good. IMO. I have seen him play in 5 or 6 games and he got owned alot and usually by smaller younger guys. Hopefully he can do well at isu |
Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.
"The one thing I really want to say is to tell the fans thank you for everything," Johnson said. "You rooted for me, you were behind me with my injury, and I really appreciated that."

Say what you want but four out of his 7 signees did not have one other BCS offer. Does that mean they will be busts? NO. But it does give some people the right to question who we are getting.
I think we got some good talent that fills some much needed roles. I don't think that Pomlee is a super prospect. If he was a super prospect, somebody would have offered him.

Um, you'd need to rename every single message board on the fact of the interwebs then - because this is not specific to CF.
It is annoying, especially when the same members continue to spew the same exact stuff again and again - but it'll never go away.
As for who will be good and who won't - I have no idea. I left my crystal ball at home today. Maybe I can use my EasyButton...
*push*
Nope...that didn't work.

My concern is his ability to take the recruits and translate that into wins on the court. I am still waiting for the "breakthrough" on the court. Hopefully it happens this year.

If you read further than the 1st 3 to 6 posts on most threads, it is a waste of time. Doesn't a person get credits just for posting? Despite what some people say on here, other college fan message boards don't read anything like this one. It is unique. The sorting through for any useful or thought provoking information gets tiresome to say the least. Like I said read the 1st three to six posts of a thread and you can tell where the conversation is headed. Being contrary just to be contrary doesn't fit my psyche. ISU is on the rise. If we win every game, the contraries will want to win by more and it will be someones fault.

It's warming up, we just signed three recruits, and the spring game is this weekend. Let's hear some optimism!

I cannot get the direct link to copy but if you look Pomlee up here you will see he is rated as a Super Prospect. CSTV.com: #1 in College Sports | | |

Waiting until the last minute with no verbals and 3 openings can bring out the pessimist in us, but GMAC definitely came through in the clutch. He got the best guys available and he got the positions we needed. Now that this crisis has been averted, let's be optimistic for next season. (I was neg-repped for my earlier pessimism).
