Credits: 157,111 | ISU vs Iowa MBB match-ups I normally hate talking Iowa ISU during the off season, but I did this in response to someone else on CR. What does everyone think? PG - Moderate ISU. Garrett is simply a better player than Jeff Peterson
SG - Slight Iowa. I'll take Staiger over Freeman personally, but Freeman has done it in front of both fans in Iowa City, while Staiger hasn't played for ISU yet.
SF- Extreme ISU. Wesley Johnson is better at 3 different positions than anything Iowa has at those three positions. At the small forward spot, it isn't even close.
PF- Extreme ISU. Iowa simply does not have a big capable of competing with Brackins inside. Tate ended the season on a good note, but he is no where near the athlete, shooter, shot blocker, etc etc that Brackins is.
C- Slight ISU. Neither team has anything proven here, so it would be hard to debate this spot. However, give the likelihood that we will see Brackins here on occasion, and JVB is in the fold, I'll give ISU a slight edge. |

If Jake Kelly gets stronger this offseason the advantage at SF will probably be more of a slight/moderate one. He impressed me quite a few times this year.

I love Wes, but he has alot to prove this year. He is nowhere close to all Big 12 right now even though he has the talent to be there. He needs to step it up on both ends of the floor. Yes I know he was hurt all year. |

Depending on where you look, the reviews are mixed on Fuller. Scout has him listed as a 2 star, but who knows what that means. I do think that Gatens will be pretty good.
On a similar subject, there is a thread on a Hawkeye board (not saying which one) talking about Harrison Barnes and how the Hawks can land him.
Follow my logic here, the claim is that if Iowa can stay on track and get to the NCAA tourney in 2009, and the sweet 16 in 2010, that Barnes will be unable to say no to Iowa.
It's good to know they have goals.
In other news, I'm going to try to land that dream date with Scarlett Johansson, that I've had my heart set on. I figure that if I can stay on track and balance the U.S. budget this year, then learn to chop down trees using my bare hands over the summer, and wrestle grizzly bears in 2010, she won't be able to turn me down. Right?

Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.
"The one thing I really want to say is to tell the fans thank you for everything," Johnson said. "You rooted for me, you were behind me with my injury, and I really appreciated that."

I'm not even going to begin to predict the outcome of next year's game, simply because anything can happen in basketball, and we don't even know who is going to be on the team.
That being said, I don't think you can "heavily favor" either team at any position. Right now, I would give ISU advantage at most of them, but don't count out what Cole/Tate inside will be, and don't count out what all of Iowa's guards may be able to do next year.
On a side note - isn't it nice to finally be able to talk improvements? :)
