Re: Is Christopherson better than DG?

I wonder if the coaches consult the current players about possible recruits (esp. if they had played against/with each other)?

Lets wait about 20 months before we make a decision on this. If he is better than DG McD got a steal and ISU has one heck of a player on its hands.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

I hope he finds his niche here... But you really can't judge a guy by a highlight video. I could probably put together a video of my high school highlights that makes me look pretty good too...

You should see my highlight video of me building a VM server at work. Its off the hook.
I hope Wells Fargo or Principal sees it and says "dang, That boy's got some redundancy..." and pays me a ton of money.

Anyway.. They are two completely different players.
DG: Point guard that can get to the whole as a freshman in one of the toughest leagues in the country.

SC: Can't get to the whole in one of the toughest leagues, didn't play much and was nagged by injury. He is going to be dependant on screens and DG/Buckley to get points.

McDermott said that SC can play the point and it has been said that he would like for DG to play both the one and the two. Maybe he likes SC and Buckley running the point in two years with DG as a 2.

Don't forget that Lucca has been described as capable of manning the point in some situations. Eik also has some decent ball handling skills.

Another area of improvement in the future could be passing. Lucca was said to be the best passer on the team based on his practice sessions last year. L.A. received some compliments on his passing during his play in the state tourney. JV appears to be above average for a post in terms of ball handling. Combine these factors with what the 3 new guards bring to the table and the offense might have addressed many of the flow and movement issues that we've witnessed the past 2 years.

Re: Is Christopherson better than DG?

What kind of stats would Christopherson put up IF: 1. He wasn't playing with a bum knee. 2. He was playing behind 2 walkons instead of one of the best guard courts in the country.

These stats are not relevant. Marquette was at times ranked in the top 10 and was loaded at the guard position. ISU did not crack the top 100 in the RPI rankings, and as was pointed out by another poster DG only had two walk-ons in front of him.

I see Christoperson as a 2 or 3 (primarily 2, because of his size). They can both be on the floor a lot at the same time. Let't wait until 2009 to find out.

Mac seems to feel that he can play some point as well. All I know is that I don't think he's going to be a starter.

FWIW, ESPN had SC rated as the #27 PG in his class. DG was #45 on the same list. They at least got the top guy correct with Rose as #1.

I like to see that too...but they don't have Harrison Barnes in their top 120 of that list either for 2010

“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.”

I have a strange feeling that DG would rank a little higher now than 45th.
