As far as this thread goes, it is ridiculous.

This is a public forum. Picking on an individual because of their ethnicity or heritage just doesn't fly.

Plenty of other posters seemed to find it easy to respond to the content of the original post.

Honestly, I am not impressed with him at all. He will be another Thompson as most, and I seriously doubt he will beat Thompson for minutes.

Re: Why are we so excited about Vanderbeken

I think we need to keep in mind that our program is rebuilding and at present ISU probably will not get top rated post players. Hopefully with the recruitment of this class, it will bring us some sense of stability and allow us to get some wins over rated teams and get noticed. Victories will get us better players.

I feel much safer now knowing that the public forum police are present and willing to serve.

I didn't take it that way at all. We don't even know the ethnicity or heritage of the original poster. Regardless there is a lot of inference happening on your part.

Exactly, well put.

And in case anyone is interested in rankings...Mike Taylor was the 55th ranked JUCO two years ago, and regardless of how many turnovers he had for us, he was our best player and might be on an NBA roster in the near future. It'll always bug me that he couldn't keep his head straight during his time in Ames.

Although I am not a fan of the Recruiting business, some of those guys have been studying Big XII recruiting alot longer than Mac has been recruiting in the Big XII.

Here's a novel idea.....let's wait for him to play an actual game before judging if he's worth a crap or not.

At 53rd he is ranked ahead of a familiar face Dodie Dunson at 66th. Though this rankings are not a very good representation of what a player can do with a higher (or lower) degree of talent surrounding them.

What fun would that be? Why not have 7 months of speculation and banter?

I suspect he was like a ISU target No 10 for the big man, yet definitely a get to contribute, but still not the first choice. After watching our rebounding, we need front line choices. This was a choice to sign.
