By whose choice his or ours? I am trying to figure out why he wouldn't be on campus this summer if he signed the papers.

Yes, why not go after him now...sign him and get him on campus this fall?

3 years would be nice; Not sure on the reasons why he's not. He is being recruited for 09-10 class with 2 years to play.

Re: Dwight Buycks

He was not a qualifier out of HS, right? If so, then I believe he needs his AA degree before he can enroll at a D1 school.

This is correct, he was a non-qualifier and he needs his degree before he can transfer to another school.

Re: Dwight Buycks

If Buycks has all of those offers that cyismydog is saying, shouldn't he have entered his name in the NBA draft already?

Buycks isn't tall enough for the NBA. I really hope we can land him though.

Re: Dwight Buycks

I don't think Wisconsin offered. They don't have any scholarships left in '09.

I said people that offered in March...they probably withdrew it by now.

Re: Dwight Buycks

Buycks is a very good player. Dwight used to play along side Korie Lucious in aau. Always thought Buycks was consistently better.

Seriously doubt Wisconsin offered Buycks. It has been a decade since the Badgers took a 2 year JC player on the basketball squad. It was a Roy Boone who was a local Madison kid. It may have been 7-8 years before Boone that the previous 2 year JC player ended up in Madison. Very difficult to get JC players who did not qualify out of high school into Madison. Most JC's they look at seriously qualified out of high school and went to JC for other reasons. Zach Morley would be an example.

Re: Dwight Buycks

I am excited about Buycks and I definitely hope ISU lands him.

However, regarding the purported offer list . . . . that is a better list of offers than Brackins had. That is a better list of offers than Barnes currently holds. For a juco. Who has yet to start his sophomore season.

And we are to believe that ISU sat idle for two months - despite its history with Buycks - watching the likes of Memphis, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Wisconsin offer him, and only just now decided to make its own offer?

I'm sure cyismydog is sincere in passing along what he has heard. And I don't doubt someone really recited that list of offers to him. But I don't believe it could be accurate. Just my opinion.

But, whatever. He sounds like a really nice propsect regardless, and I hope he commits to the good guys.

Re: Dwight Buycks

Just because other very good programs offer him doesn't mean he fits the profile of what we need in that particular class. An early offer shouldn't be made until you are damn sure that you can live with the consequences/ramifications of the kid accepting that offer. The staff may have loved this kid for a long time but weren't sure how he would fit in their plans for the program. Something triggered the offer (Wes leaving?) but we just don't know.

JS Online: New attitude clears Buycks' path

looks like Buycks was getting looked at by Memphis until Derrick Rose committed to the tigers, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was getting looked at by the other schools cyismydog was talking about.
