Dwight Buycks

According to Rick Brown's blog, he believes one of ISU's top targets for 2009 will be Dwight Buycks at Indian Hills. This somewhat conficts with the High Profile Minnesota kids we are chasing hard.

Re: Dwight Buycks

He can really score. I heard he hit like 4 three's in two minutes in a playoff game this year. I bet we have a transfer next year as that seems to be the trend. I thought we would go after a big guy instead of a guard. Maybe we can sign his teammate too, 6'9' 4 star Laron Dendy.

No offense to Buycks, but if we only have one scholarship to offer and it goes to a JUCO that means we missed on a lot of guys. He only has 2 to play.

If he's playing there this year, I'd take a W.A.G. and say that after next year he would have two to play.

Not necessarily. It easily could mean that Buycks is the missing link to win big right away. I don't think UNLV compained when Larry Johnson came out of a juco.

I do have to say that he looks a bit undersized for a 2g to me:

Re: Dwight Buycks

In this article, I think it sounds like Iowa State could have Buycks if they wanted him..2009 Recruit (former commitment)- Dwight Buycks - BradleyFans.com Forums Read the whole thread, it sounds like he really wants to go to ISU.
Here's a video of him, scroll down on the page. It also has a Scott Christopherson video. Click on Courtside Closeup, and scroll about halfway down for Buycks video.

Re: Dwight Buycks

He's not at our tops of targets for that class. Yes, we are recruiting him and will continue to but don't expect him here if we have only 1 scholarship to offer. Of course, we all know there will be more than one to offer.

Re: Dwight Buycks

Dwight's current offer list is ridiculous. I think it must have been after his big NJCAA playoffs performance.
Memphis, Tennessee, Kentucky, Marquette, Alabama, and Wisconsin!

If this is true and what you said in your previous post in this thread (about him wanting to go to ISU), I think we should go get him.

I trust the source on this one, but I don't think ISU needs another pg/sg right now. However, if anyone leaves the program, I think we should definitely go after him.

Dont need another guard? If you can over recruit any player on your team... do it!

IMO, we really need a wing player, since Wes is our only current one, and Harrison (knock on wood) won't be playing for us until 2010. But if we could get Buycks I would consider a huge get.

Re: Dwight Buycks

We are to the point where we should take ANYONE who is better than who we have now. We are one of the bottom of the Big 12 talent wise. Take anyone and everyone who is better than the players we have now. Maybe our staff has a certain feeling toward HB already
