Re: 08-09 Roster & Depth Chart?

I can't wait for the Cap City League. I hope all the new recruits make it here for the summer.

I think now that we got JVB that means Hamilton will probably red shirt. In fact I hope he redshirts. I would love to see him put some meat on his bones and be a factor for 4 years rather than just playing spot minutes in his first year.

Re: 08-09 Roster & Depth Chart?

i really really hope boozer red shirts

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Without knowing for sure, I say it is just delaying the inevitable. I see him transferring if asked to redshirt. He essentially wasted last year. He tried the D1 thing. It's not working here. Granted he was only a Freshman but he didn't see any minutes and he has essentially been recruited over. It's unfortunate but I don't expect him to last, and maybe it'll be good for him. Go to a school where he can get minutes.

I do too, I think he needs the redshirt more than any of our incoming recruits. He was really behind the curve when he came here, and a RS could do him a world of good.

What this thread says is that Mac will have many options available to him to match up with the opposition. This is something we haven't seen for several years at ISU. I see a very interesting year coming up.

To think, we can talk about which guys it would be best to redshirt, and it might actually be possible to do so!!!

Best lineup I foresee that I would like to see
PG-Buckley/Peterson
SG-Garrett/Haluska
SF-Johnson/Staiger
PF-Vanderbeken/Johnson
C-Brackins/Thompson

this would be the main lineup and would be the main nine people we use with Cameran Lee seeing a decent amount of playing time and Hamilton and Boozer playing on occasion. Mann/Pomlee/Eikmeier redshirted.
Eikmeier at small forward????

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

He is definitely confused as to who plays what position on the team.

It's not out of the question.... especially with a 3 guard lineup. IE when Jake sullivan played the 3 as a freshman. Or for that mater when Wes played SG last year.

As many people have posted here GMAC has referenced many times the 2 & 3 positions are interchangeable in his offensive set.

Re: 08-09 Roster & Depth Chart?

Help me understand, please. There is much speculation that we will have 1-3 players redshirted for development purposes and because we are apparently so deep at shooting guard, in particular. When has McD redshirted anyone, other than one who transferred in, was injured or ineligible? We have lacked quality depth across the board for the past several seasons. If our recruits are/will be Big 12 caliber players, they will get there sooner playing real games. Several have commented on coming to ISU because of the opportunity to compete for playing time right away. Most players don't want to stay around for 5 years. In fact, most students don' want to stay in school any longer than necessary.Let them compete for game time and learn. Some may fail and I would expect some to leave because they see they can't break into the starting lineup and want to step down to a program where they can. This isn't football, where they have a playbook the size of the Des Moines phonebook and they need to gain large amounts of weight and strength to avoid gettin killed in a game. Yes, more strength and weight will help. I expect no redshirts other than Christopherson, unless there is an injury.
