'09 Wing Shawn Williams

Per this free rivals article, we are seriously pursuing him. He is from the same school as Marcus Brister, and is an athletic wing who is a top 50 player. He would be a great get for next year. I see that he is listed as the #1 player in the 2009 Websider Hoops Top 10. Does anyone know if that is for all of Texas or just a certain part of Texas?

I am sure people will come on here and say we have no chance with him, but I would not be surprised if we pick up a 4-star or even a 5-star for 2009. We don't have many scholarships to give out for 2009 (maybe only one more...not quite sure though). I really think this could be a blessing in disguise as we will be able to go really hard after some elite players..instead of spreading our focus out really thin.

I agree, we have a good chance at landing a 4 star, IMO. Shawn is just what we're looking for, he plays a lot like Wesley. Hopefully we can pick up a good wing, because IMO, that's what we will need the most.

shawn would be a great get, but a guy like rodney williams or CJ Wilcox is a bigger need b/c they are athletic shooting guards, and could make major matchup issuses with their size

now in my opnion there is a little difference there. seriously don't get me wrong im lookin forward to CB, but im just not expecting us to sign williams, now if we do, more power to mac. Here's to hoping im wrong

congrats you guys thought of 2 guys in the last oh 9 ur so years..thus proving my point we don't consistently get guys of this caliber

Although they didn't ever come to campus, since you want to argue about this. I dare you to check who Theo Davis and Ivan C. were recruited by. Davis had a crazy amount of offers with it being between us and UNC in the end! Now I know they didn't come to us, but still its stupid to say we can't ever beat out big schools!

i don't think i mean we couldn't, i just meant we don't very often and i kind of find it funny you are using two examples that didn't even play one minute for ISU.

rahshon was a 4 star too. as were shawn taggart,jackson vroman,adam haluska,tim barnes etc. obviously not everyone stayed but they all signed.

My point exactly, I wasn't talking about what happened after, but we did get those players to commit to us over the bigger basketball schools. What about Jamie V. although he isn't as highly rated as some of the others he was pursued by UConn very closely, can someone clarify if they offered or not? Last time i checked they are a pretty legit basketball school!

Being pursued by and being offered by are two different things. They did not offer
