Would you welcome Eustachy back to Iowa State?

For the sake of discussion, let's say it's 2011 and we are looking for a new coach. Would you welcome the re-hiring of Larry Eustachy to be the next coach?

Why or why not?

(Again, let's not turn this into a LE/Wayne Morgan/McDermott issue)

Assuming he is still sober, personally I would LOVE to see him coach here again.

I would in a heartbeat. I think JP and LE would get along very well.

If he cleaned up his foul language attributes, I would give him a shot to test him again. Actually, his philandering with the young gals was enough to last me a lifetime. ISU can do better.

I'd only be willing to welcome him back if his sobriety also meant that most of his abusive manner went away. I don't think anyone should be treated the way he treated players while he was here. Not that I have athlete children but if I did and if I had anything to say about it, they wouldn't go near a school that had an abusive coach like he was then.

Why can't we just let this whole thing die? What's in the past is in the past. Move forward.

Re: Would you welcome Eustachy back to Iowa State?

I voted "no" for now. I would want to see that he has achieved success at his jobs away from ISU. So far, he really hasn't.

If he tears up his league in the next few years, gets them to the NCAAs, then we could talk.

I would take him back only if he can turn Sol Miss into a dominant team in its conference (without the help of Tinsly)

Re: Would you welcome Eustachy back to Iowa State?

Just some perspective...not bashing:

Since the Hampton game, LE is 89-97 as a head coach.

I know there's extenuating circumstances, but that's not good enough for me. He seems to maybe be turning the So. Miss. program around a bit though.

Can we please move on and get passed this? It has been 5 years and 2 coaches ago.

I'm going with no only because I'm not a fan of this discussion - we have a coach.

This would be like the Giants going and signing Barry Bonds again next year. Just not a good idea.

Re: Would you welcome Eustachy back to Iowa State?

Tinsley and Fizer made him. Other than that he really hasn't done much. how do you guys think we would have done last year if we had 3 guys going to the NBA (2 first Round) and a couple guys that would do well in the DL league. And out of that team 1 of them was really heard of and recruited.
He would never have a chance back here.

Been there, done that. Many fine coaches are available. How many coaches are rehired after a long absence? Let bygones be bygones.

I agree, he caught lighting in a bottle those two seasons.
