Royce White to Minnesota a done deal.

Per the first paragraph of a premium rivals story, Royce is committing to Minnesota today. IMO, this means the staff will be after Rondey really hard, since Royce is off the market. IMO, our biggest need next year is a wing, so that probably means Shawn Williams, CJ Wilcox, or Rodney Williams. Hopefully we can snag one of these guys.

I really like Wilcox's video. I do agree we could really use a wingman. Most won't agree with me but I think our big guys downlow will be very good in a couple years. I'm really excited about Mann. I hope his style of play is a lot like Tyler Hansbrough's. It really energizes the players around him. Craig will be great down low soon, too. JVB and AT give us big bodies down low on defense. I expect JVB to step out beyond the arc quite a bit on offense.

I agree. We are set in the post for years to come. (Brackins, JVB, Hamilton, Mann, Pomlee, Dykstra) Plus, coach Mac prefers an 8-5 guards-post ratio, so we should be good there. I expect the staff to bring in one swingman this year, and hopefully Harrison, Dykstra, and one more player, prefferably a guard. I just hope the staff will be able to snag somebody really good, since they will be able to focus their recruiting efforts a lot more.

With Tubby Smith coaching the Gophers it is going to be a lot tougher to snag the blue chip Minnesotans like Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, and ISU have been able to do in the past.

The worst-kept secret in Twin Cities prep basketball is no more. Here's the StarTribune link:

U basketball lands top recruit

The U of MN should be hoping he makes grades.

The bottom most section of the the ST article has a quote from Royce about trying to recruit Rodney Williams to the U of MN.

Wasn't it nice when Minnesota had a lame duck recruit, and we had a lot less competition from Minnesota......Tubby is a great coach, as long as he isn't pressured too much.
