I know recently he brought in Jamie Vanderbeken, so those pages might need updating.

Marquis Gilstrap (2009 - commit)
Jordan Dykstra (2010 - commit)
Chim Kadima (2010 - recruit)

He did recruit a little guy known as Wesley Johnson too.

What does that mean? You can't please everyone all the time. I've tried and failed many times. I don't see why it's even necessary to bring this up.

Re: Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

I have to think that Ric Wesley might get a shot to come back as an assistant. He was an assistant for Johnny Orr for years and is currently the head coach at Division II Grand Valley State. (Who beat Michigan State in an exhibition game earlier this year)

Jake Sullivan as asst. coach?

I guess some of you forget easily the things Jake had to say about Greg and the current status of the program.

Not.
Gonna
Happen.

Maybe we should just can Greg and get the Mayor to come down and be the HC. He can hire Jake as one assistant and talk Jamal out of being an NBA player and instead being one of the other assistants. Larry could be the "water boy".

Re: Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

I really don't feel you need to mock others on this board for the suggestion that Jake Sullivan could be the next assistant coach, even if it is unrealistic.

What did JS say that was so bad about Coach McD and the state of the program anyway? If I recall correctly, all JS said was that that the type of athlete we had last season didn't mesh well with the style we were trying to play.

How about Chris Davis if Phelps doesn't keep him around at Drake?

Re: Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

Grayer might be alright, but I think we need someone with better credentials. We already have the AAU/Juco guy in T.J. Otzelberger. Getting someone like Jake wouldn't make sense. Grayer, like I said, maybe, but I would like to see somebody with a little more background in collegiate coaching. We need that guy who people are going to look at and say, this guy has the background with a great program and can help me get to that next level. Prioleau was the closest guy we had to this, that is why I think we struggle getting some people to this program. We have a very personable staff, but the credentials aren't anything amazing. Of the guys mentioned, Grayer would be the only one who even comes close to being the kind of guy we need. He does have the NBA background and has been a head coach in professional ranks.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

How about Jimmy Williams? He used to be an assistant to Nee at Nebraska and Sutton at Okie State. He's also coached in the NBA and is very respected around the country. I think he would be a nice addition to Mac's staff!

Fred Hoiberg! Not like that is going to happen, but you can always wish.

Re: Who will replace Coach Prioleau?

Is Erick Crawford a possibility at all? I know he's young, but he's already familiar with both the program and the head coach, he is black, and his youth could be a big advantage to be able to relate with today's college athletes, since he just got done playing two years ago.

Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.

"The one thing I really want to say is to tell the fans thank you for everything," Johnson said. "You rooted for me, you were behind me with my injury, and I really appreciated that."
